The bible was written in Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek.
I speak contempory modern English.
Why on earth would I consider it advantageous to read scripture in a third language (early modern English)? Following the logic of the OP people are lazy for not learning to read the Vulgate in Latin.
Not to mention I don't consider the KJV to be a great translation on other grounds - its scholarship is outdated and its language artificially prosaic.
God chose to give the New Testament in the common business language of the time - rough and ready koine Greek. And much of that drawing on an OT translation into said language (the LXX).
