1 Thessalonians 4:

16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.
The Greek lemma for "caught up" is ἁρπάζω (G726 harpazó). The Latin translation of this verse used the lemma rapturus.

It appears in the following verses:

Matthew 11:

12 From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and the violent take it by force [G726 snatch or seize it].
Mat 13:

19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is what was sown along the path.
John 6:

15 Perceiving then that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, Jesus withdrew again to the mountain by himself.
In total, it appears 13 times.

When is the great tribulation?

None of those scriptures has anything to do with the supposedly Christian rapture either before, during, or after the great tribulation.

The strongest case we have for a rapture in the Bible is found in Matthew 24:29-32 where it says: "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then will appear in heaven the sign of the Son of Man, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he will send out his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other." Note this about that scripture, the rapture comes AFTER the great tribulation, why? Why do we have to go through the crap? Because God is threshing his wheat, those who still believe and cling to Him will be saved. Going through the Great Tribulation will not be fun or pleasant, it will be absolutely the worst thing we could possibly endure! Pain, war, misery, hunger, thirst, disease, the list goes on and on, and through it all we have to somehow stand strong and keep the faith, all I can do is pray that I can endure it should it happen in my lifetime. Christians today think this is not going to be all that big of a deal, we in America and the Western world live very sheltered lives, and when the crap hits the ceiling there will be a huge falling away, that falling away is discussed in the Bible, yet God makes sure there is always a remnant, those that stayed the faith so they can witness to others in severe need, those people don't want to see crying fearful fallen Christians, they will seek out those who have managed to stay strong and wonder why.
