• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I was talking to my nephew and he was telling me that now days they can get one piece of information about you from the internet and find out anything they want including satellite in on your place of residence.
Now I have been pretty open and never worried about these trival things but for some reason I am now uneasy.
If this is true though why cannot they catch the terriost and more criminals? I know he is a computer whizz and I am pretty illeterant when it comes to pc.
Is this true?

Becasue then they don't want to catch them. They make for too good of bogey men for scaring the Sheeple into giving the guvmint more power.

I'm sure they'd say "because of your lousy anachronoistic notion of "Rights" we can't spy on you all the time, at least not tell you about it or reveal it in a court case anyway. If you want to be safe from terrorists you'll give up your silly notion of "privacy" and give us the power to use all our techie gizmos!"

LOL. We all trade our liberty for our safety every day, and we will pay. But it's what we want.
I can just see the Burger King sign now,

"Have it your way"

Is that really what we want? (veering from op, excuse me, not intended for this audience, I just like to pass the buck *snicker*)

humor is not humor, if no one laughs.....

This is why I ask he said I was giving out to much information.
He's young and know so much he is planning getting his own shop soon. Maybe he can teach me something useful.
Well see I shot myself in the foot.

There is a lot of information that can be gleaned from the internet about a person. However, that does not necessarily make it THE tool to find criminals. Most of us don't have a reason to try to hide ourselves other than regular precautions to prevent a crime being comitted on us. However, a terrorist is in the business of hiding...both in the real world and on the net. Just as the net can be used to find somone, it can also be used to deceive.
