Java giant Starbucks finds itself entangled in yet another brewing controversy over its “The Way I See It” campaign . . .

Here are just a few of the “The Way I See It” statements in controversy: . . .

So, in the interest of equal time, I’ve submitted the following “The Way I See It” quote from a Christian conservative perspective for Starbucks to consider. Other conservatives should also be encouraged to visit Starbucks’ website to submit their own statements: . . .

******
In an attempt to unite both sides and end the bickering, I submitted a quote from a secularist and self-described atheist, Jurgen Habermas:

“Christianity, and nothing else, is the ultimate foundation of liberty, conscience, human rights, and democracy, the benchmarks of Western civilization. To this day, we have no other options. We continue to nourish ourselves from this source. Everything else is postmodern chatter.”

What quote would you submit to Starbucks?

Exactly. Those who look so hard for persecution will eventually find it.

This is a non-issue. A phrase on a coffee cup hardly amounts to Christian persecution or anything else. If you didn't like what was written on the cup, throw it away and leave. There's no reason why so many people should be offended because someone else expressed their beliefs.

persecution complex.

The Freud Card gets old. The Soviets used it. No, its not a perscution complex. It is not based upon a mental defect. It is not a pathology. It is, considering the track record of atheist regimes in the 20th century, abhorrence that anyone would promote this stuff. The doggeral is also simply ill bred, shallow and rude.

(Sigh) There you go with the Soviets again, as though they apply to the matter at hand.

Nobody said anything about "mental defect" or "Sigmung Freud". You put those words in that person's mouth. Don't read too much into what people write; you'll get burned every time.

Maybe not every claim of persecution is pathological, but I do think that some conservative Christians have a tendency to view things as persecution when they aren't. This is an example.

This isn't some message from the government handed down to Christians. It's someone's submitted writing on a coffee cup. It's not worth the trouble, it's not worth the outrage, and it's not persecution. It's a quote on a coffee cup. Get over it.

I hear worse everyday. Starbucks is not a Christian coffee house and they have the right to say whatever they want just as we have the right to not drink their coffee. I for one will continue to my "Iced venti quad shot carmel machiatto" As my 5 year old would say "sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me" ;)

I don't care what they have on their cups because their coffee isn't worth the price they charge for it. If Starbucks wants to lose customers because of their cup comments then let them.

After reading some of the comments they list on their cups it makes them along with the commentors seem very unintelligent and bitter.
