Proverbs 15:24 The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from hell beneath.

Colossians 3:
1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above,
where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.
2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

7 If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?
8 But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons.
9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not
much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?
10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.
11 Now no chastening for the present seems to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yields the peaceable fruit
of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.

The Bible starts with the Tree of Life, ends with it, and everything in between is about how to guard the way of life. The law of first mention is a principle that the first time that a Hebrew word is used by the Bible contains the context of how it should be understood. The Hebrew word "derek" means "the way" and is first use in Genesis 3:24, where God placed cherubim in the Garden to guard the way to the Tree of Life, which was what Adam was told to do in Genesis 2:15, and there are many other places where "the way", "guard", "angel", "life" and "commands" are used in context with each other and the way to or from Jerusalem. For example, in Exodus 23:20, God will send His angel to guard you on the way to the place where God will put His name. Cherubim are also placed over the Ark of the Covenant to guard to the Torah and God instructed His people to guard its commands. In In Matthew 19:17, Jesus said that the way to enter eternal life is by obeying God's commandments. In Luke 10:25-28, Jesus affirmed that the way to inherit eternal life is by obeying the greatest two commandments and the proceeded to tell a parable about a man who was on the way from Jerusalem. Paul was also on the way from Jerusalem to persecute members of "The Way". Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, and said narrow is the way that leads to life. In Revelation 22:14, those who guarded God's commands are given the right to eat from the Tree of Life.

What seems to be missing from the Bible quotes is how one can have the assurance that he or she has actually passed from death to life.
