Jesus says I am the true vine. Then why does a Christian find it necessary to turn to the old testament when searching for answers? Doesn't Jesus say, I am the truth? If Jesus is the truth then that means the old testament is not the truth because it is not in the vineyard of the new testament.
If there is a new and everlasting covenant as in testament then doesn't that mean the old covenant or testament is obsolete?

No, the NT is seen as the fulfillment of the OT, not it's replacement.

Christ is the True Vine, but that Vine grew from the line of David. The two are contiuous. Incidentally, the OT is quite different when seen through the NT. The slant given is entirely different than what one would have on a prima facie reading.

Listen, the old testament was not created, according to the king james bibles (and all other bibles are variants of the king james), until like the 1700's or close to that time. I don't exactly remember when but that's close enough. Therefore, could the new testament fulfill the old testament when both were created relatively recently. Who decides this fulfillment? Men decide this fulfillment has occurred by what they produce out of their own hands. If there is a new and everlasting covenant then how do men turn to the old covenant to look for the way?
What about the other prophets that were not included in the bibles? How does the new testament fulfill these prophets? Jesus says I have come not to destroy the law and the prophets but to fulfill. Apparently, since some prophets did not make it into the bible--these have been destroyed. If some prophets are destroyed in this way then why not destroy the prophets that did make it into the bibles?
You say that the old testament has been fulfilled by the new? Not right, all of the prophets are part of the old testament--some have not been included; therefore, the old testament has not been fulfilled by the new; as Jesus says I have not come to destroy the law and the prophets; but to fulfill. He did not say I will fulfill some and leave out others. No, he said I will fulfill the prophets; which is inclusive to all.
