  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hey, how's this Christy? I just did a copy and paste. I think doing a custom avatar is beyond my abilities at the moment.

BTW, Vatican City is it's own city-state. It has diplomatic relations with other countries and has a seat on the UN...non-voting however.

The vatican City State is fairly recent. In the Middle Ages the Pope ruled all of Rome and some other nearby provinces known as the Papal States. This was when Italy was divided into lots of different Kingdoms and independent states like Naples, Venice, Florence and Genoa.

In the 1800s General Garribaldi led a secular army in the Unification of Italy, conquering all the independent states to unite them in one country. He invaded Rome, leaving the Pope and Curia isolated in the area of St Peters, which the Pope refused to leave, calling himself the "prisoner of the Vatican". Eventually a concordat was signed respecting the independence of the small area of the Vatican City.
