Response in spoiler.

Richard Alpert not aging is such a mystery. He looks the same age in 1954 as he does in 1977, but Ellie is definitely older in '77. Why is that? Could it be because she goes off the island and he doesn't? But as far as we know Ben doesn't leave the island either, and he grows up. So does Ethan. So why doesn't Richard?

I hope there's an explanation for a pushing-40 Ellie shooting Daniel in 1977 who looks like she's nowhere near that old. I don't think there have been any continuity errors on the writers' part so far, and I don't want this to be one.

I posted this in the other thread, but wanted to mention it here.

So...Penny and Daniel are 1/2 sibs. I wonder who Pen's mom is?

Yeah me too! When Ben went to see Widmore off on the sub a couple weeks ago, he mentioned that Widmore had gone off-island and had a child with an outsider, but I wonder if it's someone we've met already.

Me too. And who's older?

Penny seems older, but yeah I'd like to see that timeline.

Why do you think that Penny and Daniel are siblings? I couldn't make out what Widmore said to Hawking. Did he say "he's my son too" or "I sent my son too"? If it is the second one, then Hawking got upset about something else, like maybe Widmore's son hurt her in some way.

Never crossed my mind..interesting question.

How they can "keep continuity" with time travel is beyond me, actually! ^_^

He said "He's my son too."
I agree.

And that would make sense why Ellie said...Don't talk to me about sacrifice...since she knew she was sending him back so she could shoot him! What kind of mother does that? She wasn't very nice (to say the least) at his graduation either. Geesh!

The whole aging thing is such a mystery.

And why...when Richard had met Daniel in 1954...did he say...Do I know you? That man has a much better memory than that, doesn't he?

I'm still waiting to see him carry Dan to the temple too. Seems only fair. I didn't used to care that much about Daniel..he was "alright" in my mind, but he's really grown on me, especially since last night's episode. What's not to love about a guy who did so well at Oxford? ;)

If Faraday was the offspring of Ms Haeking and Widmore, then the young Faraday could be present, as a child in the 'Others' camp - or at least on the island - when the older Faraday was shot.

Observation: this would mean that Charlette, Miles, and Faraday - the 'weird science team' - who came to the island in 2003? (or was it 2004?) were all actually born on the island.

That said, I suspect, alas, that Dr Faraday really is dead. At best, he'll linger on until the 'incident' happens in a few hours and vanish, much as Charlette did. As to him survivng...well...Locke took a shot like that and lived...but that was Locke.

Don't see another thread for it, so I'll put it here:

Dr Chang looses his arm as a direct or indirect result of the 'incident'. This convinces him on a personal level at least that he really was dealing with time travelers. This might account for his paranioa in the 'Orchid' orientation tape that never made it into an episode.

More of the lostaways get the trippy drug treatment by the Dharma interrogator...and tell the same thing that Sayid did.

The 'free will' bit that Faraday was getting into might not be as potent as he thought. By Faraday's reckoning, 'the rules do not apply to Desmond', yet Desmond, who saw Charlies death several times was able to only postphone it, but not stop it. Desmond, by himself, definitely had an effect, but not a long term one. However...Desmond is only an 'honorary lostaway', and he is only one person. Now...just maybe 'freewill choices' by several people, acting in concert, really can change destiny.

Great...as you've probably seen, there's a new episode thread every week, so when you have tons of time, you can go back and see all the theories floating around.

Yeah, it's been a long time..hope you and the family are well.

I really hope Faraday doesn't die as well :( I'm really kind of hoping they ease off with the number of deaths on the show now.

What I thought was really poignant when Faraday's mum, Eloise was trying to convince him to return to the island (ironically when Widmore said the island would 'make him better') was when Faraday asked his mum whether she would be proud of him if he went, and that was where she then shot him! Kinda sad how he was so bent on winning her approval - she doesn't really give the impression of being a caring/nurturing mother type.
