BTW, this is Episode #100, a big landmark for the show.

The Variable

Daniel Faraday comes clean about what he knows of the island.

Variables, explains exec producer Carlton Cuse, "are things that can change, which is about all we want to say. That’s a cryptic but important clue."

Here’s another hint, from Cuse’s partner-in-time Damon Lindelof: "The Variable" is for fans of "The Constant," a popular Season 4 episode that found Desmond (Henry Ian Cusick) time-jumping between 1996 and 2004 and establishing Penny as his sanity-keeping rock, just as Daniel Faraday (Jeremy Davies) later established Desmond as his. Lindelof says Desmond and Daniel play a significant role in Episode 100.

"It’s a really wild script," says Jorge Garcia. For several hours, Garcia, who plays Hurley, and his cast mates—Matthew Fox (Jack), Josh Holloway (Sawyer), Evangeline Lilly (Kate), Kim, Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet), Davies and Ken Leung (Miles)—have been shooting a confrontational scene in the Dharmaville home of Sawyer and Juliet. The issue: With Dharma security forces having implicated Sawyer (aka LaFleur) in the Losties’ undercover conspiracy, "the [stuff] hits the fan," says Holloway. "Sawyer’s been in a leadership position, in what started as a con as a way to blend in and survive. But now his worlds are majorly colliding."

Lindelof confirms, "Time is up in Dharmaville. Our characters know they have to abandon ship and are having a meeting about where to go next." Sawyer wants to head back to the beach (where the long-absent Rose and Bernard might be?), but the rest of the gang debate other options, such as escaping by submarine. Jin wants no part of that, telling his friends, "I’m not getting on that sub if there’s a chance my wife is still on this island."

It did put things into sequence, which was helpful. I have to say though, it was probably the most tedious Lost episode I've ever seen, including previous recap shows. It didn't build the drama up to next week at all.

I'm still looking forward to the 100th episode though :)
