First thanks to everyone who psted on my Sabbath Hell thread.

Would it be correct to say that to continue willfully sinning after acquiring knowledge of the truth means to sin with disregard to that truth and press on with the former lifestlye, or to continue to sin with the motivation to mock Godly principles? As opposed to continuing to sin because of force of habit, or conditioning that constantly needs to be worn away.

What about the people who testify that they lost faith in God then after a period, sometimes years they came back into the fold? Or is it more to do with an eroding of conciense? (I know thats not how it's spelt.)

I'll address the topic rather than the content. The unpardonable sin.

There's much dispute about what this actually is.

Here's the three main ideas:-

1. Claiming to have God power, such as the power to forgive sin etc.
2. Being a born again Christian, having many miraculous works done by the Holy spirit in your life, then get up one day and decide to deny that it was him that done them.
3. Reject God over and over until you reach reprobation. You can no longer feel the condemning power of sin in your life and cannot therefore receive the gospel.

Number 3 recieves majority support throughout mainstream Christianity as far as I'm aware.

4. There's also a few who believe that this unpardonable sin can only be achieved while Christ is actually present and preforming a miracle. If you were to say he was doing it on behalf of the devil, that would be unpardonable.

It's also worth noting accepting the Mark of the Beast is unpardonable.

It's a strange one and you'll get a wider range of opinion if you place the thread in General Theology.

Eroding of Conscience is a short and good way to describe what happens to one who commits this sin. Asiyreh explained it and it has to do with hardening your heart and mind to the pleading of the holy spirit to the point where you sin without any remorse and have no desire to repent.

This is the unpardonable sin:

"He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters. And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come. (The Gospel of St. Matthew 12:30-32,NIV)

The unpardonable sin is very specific. Those who blaspheme against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. Every other sin, including plain old contrariness, will be forgiven. But those who blaspheme against the Spirit have crossed a line that can never be recrossed.

So what it boils down to is, "What is meant by blaspheming against the Holy Spirit?" In the particular case where Jesus gave his disciples this warning, Pharisees had just accused him of performing miracles, not due to the power of the Holy Spirit, but instead due to the power of Beelzebub, the prince of demons. This constituted blatant blasphemy, as they knew even as they made the accusation that what they were saying was a lie.

Today another one of the questions we need to ask is, "Are those who claim to be inspired by the Holy Spirit, but know that they are merely using his name as a manipulative device in order to gain an advantage over others, blaspheming against the Holy Spirit?" Personally, I would see this as an unpardonable sin, because they have deliberately used the name of the Spirit in an attempt to gain advantage for themselves, while knowing that what they are claiming is a lie.

There is also the viewpoint that Jesus was speaking about demons being unpardonable. If you look at the context of this chapter, Jesus speaks about demonic spirits, and also says that all sins of man can be forgiven.

That could also imply that people who rely on demonic power are latching on to an unforgivable state. It is important to see the whole message Jesus gave in that conversation.

Remember that it is usually the devil that condemns and causes us to doubt our salvation. Jesus paid the price once, for all. You are "all". Any sinner is "all."

I had difficulty moving with the Spirt of God and saw many around me receiving from God supernaturally, while I only longed for it. I was certain I had committed the sin mentioned in Hebrews 6. I feared that scripture for some time.

No one's explanation did any help at all basically. Someone did point out that many believers in the Bible had problems with sin, yet God sought out and received the lost sheep of the fold.

I finally heard a teaching from Kenneth Hagin again it. The Lord appeared to Him and was teaching about authority over devils. The Lord spoke of this passage directly (of which everyone misunderstands it). This teaching completely set me free. It demonstrated that this a new Christian could not possibly be guilty of this. It spoke of one being convicted as a sinner, received Jesus the Heavenly gift, received the Holy Spirit baptism, tasted the good Word of God (fed on it, not just read it) , and moved in the gifts of the Spirit (the power of the age to come). You have to know fully God, His Word, His power to fully know what you're doing.

Hagin was shown an example of a believer who did this.
It was a woman who listened to the enemy. For a time she realized it was the enemy giving those thoughts to her and rebuked it. Eventually she entertained it and became "obsessed" with the thought the enemy gave her. Eventually the spirit moved from her head to her heart. The resulting fruit was that she didn't want the Lord anymore. It was that she was having a problem sinning. She didn't want any part of being a Christian anymore. She wasn't just deceived and fell back into the world. She actively rejected (saying so) that she didn't need Jesus anymore.

There is a danger that we must keep our hearts and minds. Young believers often have great difficulty getting their souls free. Getting the spirit of the world out of their lives (by not befriending those in darkness) and getting delivered from demonic oppression (of which we all suffer battles in the unseen). You have to have to have gone a lot deeper in Christ to be guilty of this sin. She moved in the gifts in the ministry and knew how to protect herself. That is the danger. We need to walk in what we know.

If you're a relatively new believer, there is a lot of teaching you must hear about how to keep your soul (thoughts, emotions, mindset). What you let into your gates determines the "prosperity" of your soul. What you have come out of also can have an affect on your current well-being if it is not dealt with in ministry. Certain legalities the enemy has been given based on your actions and your words. These need to be renounced verbally and the enemy put to flight.

It is important to receive the engrafted Word into you, which is able to saved your soul. (This is not really talking about going to Heaven.) This is talking about your wellbeing. Of course your state of being affects your sinning.

Your inner man hates the sin your flesh man often easily commits. This is the battle Paul talks about in Romans 7 & 8. Who can save me or us from the body of sin? The Lord can! His power to deliver and restore is supreme. He has complete power over all the power of the enemy (notice they have power). There are spiritual weapons described by Paul that are powerful. If you fellowship in a church (you do go I hope) where they don't instruct you how to use them, you'll no doubt suffer because these weapons were given to the church to use. I would strongly recommend going to a Spirit filled church where you can learn to walk in freedom and to use the weapons that are mightier than the devils.

You have only the power to choose. The other scripture is the one about blaspheming the Holy Ghost. You never want to speak ill of the Holy Spirit and if you have doubts some things might not be of God, you would do well to be very cautious about what you say about it. I don't believe you are guilty of this as the Holy Spirit would likely prevent me from addressing you at all if this were the case.

I want to add something about the world we live in and spiritual warfare. It might seem a little freaky, but it is a reality. One only has to look at the scriptures to see that it is. Some think that this all passed away when the apostles died out, but everything remains as it was following the resurrection of Jesus and the sending of the Holy Spirit baptism.

All around us is a spirit "realm". We are three part beings. We are a spirit with a soul and have a body. Your spirit and soul are tied to this body. When we die, we go to the kingdom we belong to. It is your tie to this physical realm, that the enemy uses to try and get into "your gates".

There are 2 kingdoms. In the spirit realm, we have both angels and devils all around us. Thank God we can't see them (typically)! Our perception of life on this planet would be pretty different and we would know that we're never alone. But God gives those who are sensitive to His Spirit an awareness or "discernment" to assist you in your walk by faith (not by sight).

As a believer you are a partaker of the victory He won for us at Calvary. The enemy even though he is defeated, is a thief and a destroyer, and he will keep you in as much bondage as he can. We sometimes give them a legal right to afflict us. The rules are all in God's Word. They quote the Word to God (who knows He hears) and they seize the opportunity to oppress you. God permits many things to happen that are totally against His will. He does this because He will not violate His Word.

It is up to us now to find out what God expects and what keeps the enemy defeated (so we can have a glorious walk in peace). You won't have much of a supernatural walk if you don't make this your very aim in life. God kind of "woo's" you at first. He stands around you and protects you. The enemy will take every shot he can give you. If you go around getting high or buzzed on beer, you'll have given him access to your soul. The next day you regret it, go to church, etc., but as bad as you feel, you are in bondage. Until you are released by repentance and the move of God's Spirit, you are a prisoner.

If you give your soul to watching movies or TV shows where they break the commandments of God, you are watching the enemy's entertainment. He'll come in and afflict your soul. You can forsake your own mercy by observing "lying vanities".

It's not about just giving stuff up. God's kingdom is more exciting than anything the devil has to offer.
You have to learn to press in and receive from God actively. You have to learn His ways. Learn to flow with the wind of the Spirit of God and know Him. We are told we can know God intimately and new believers must come away and out from "her" (the ex-wife) and become "wed" (living that way) to your new husband, Jesus Christ!

All of those things mentioned in Hebrews 6 can be experienced personally. Being born again, filled with the Holy Spirit, feeding on the good Word of God (not just mentally but in a life changing "leavening" of your inner man), moving in the powers of the world to come (Heaven). This is the supernatural walk of the Spirit. If you hear this in your spirit man, you can forsake the "treasures" of the world and begin to press into God for the "hidden treasure in the field, the parable speaks of). You'll sell everything you have to get it. You'll end up considering what you gave up as absolute "DUNG". You can be free of the bondage to sin and have not only peace of mind, but great piece of heart and supernatural love.

It starts as a very small seed, but you have must faith in what that seed reproduces and get rid of everything that opposes your new life. You must fellowship with those who are like minded and forsake the things of old.
