Reporting in: I've repped two rep newbies to stardom and insodoing totally ran out of reps and was repless for 24 hours. How do we manage to hold on to a few reps to avoid the repless syndrome (shaky hands, nausea, shame, and fear of posting since others expect reciproreps and you have none to give)? I'm in need of a guidance counsellor.

Valentine....

shaky hands, nausea, shame, and fear of posting since others expect reciproreps and you have none to give
... this is what makes the new batch of reps soooooo gooooood. If you had an endless supply then they thrill is gone.

RepU does not seek to end the addiction. Our grads are not "social reppers."

The "repless times" inspire creativity and build community (shared adversity).

So embrace the "shaky hands, nausea, shame, and fear of posting since others expect reciproreps and you have none to give" knowing ....

The reps will come out tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow there'll be reps!

Just thinkin' about tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs, and the sorrow
when there's none!

When I'm stuck a day that's gray, and repless,
I just stick out my chin and grin, and say,

Oh The reps'll come out tomorrow

So ya gotta hang on 'til tomorrow
come what may

Tomorrow! Tomorrow! I love ya Tomorrow! Reps are always a day a way!

Chancellor, what advice can you give us on balancing repping back people who repped us and repping those who just need reps?

Good Issue:

I do not feel obligated to rep everyone who reps me unless we have agreed to swap. Sometime I do, but not always. I also to not expect folks to rep me back but enjoy when they do and don't think about it when they don't.

Sometimes I use blessings to say thanks when someone has helped along the way or I post a word of thanks.

This leaves me the reps and flexibility to take the initiative in repping newbies, pushing folks to the next star (which I enjoy), or whatever strikes me (i.e. the orphan rep thread).

That's my approach and it fits me. Others take a different road and I am fine with that too. Repaholics are hardly clones.
