  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi I'm new.

I just wanted to throw in that my friend and I basically have our own fellowship/private bible study.

For the most part it's far better than the churches in my imediate area unforunately. I wish I could find one that was decent around me but that doesn't seem to be a reality.

Anyways nice to be here with you all :)

God Bless!

Well, I suppose that I am among the unchurched now. For me it is really frustrating because one of the things that I so enjoy about church is the fellowship between like minded individuals. The only problem is that I can't find any chuch group which is minded like me so to speak. My husband keeps telling me that we are a church in that we discuss the Bible and moral issues and he and I are mostly of a like mind but I guess I would like some female companionship as well and I haven't been able to find that. I'd also like to be able to find some play mates for my kids. Alas...

Hi

Dont give up searching for the female companionship or playmates for your children, God will open doors for you in Jesus name.

But your husband is also right:

Matthew 18: 19"Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. 20For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."

When your husband and you pray together Jesus is there and its church:thumbsup:

Man, I liked Ayn Rands writing, but the ideology was spooky... anyway, HALLELUJAH!
I'm so happy for you, girl!
Sounds like you got a husband with his head on straight & you don't seem confused about what you want & need...
maybe you can find a sympathetic pastor, or even priest. Matter of fact, I'll bet the Catholics would be the most accomodating, if you can handle that religion.

But If your concerned about doctrine, you have to go in with the knowledge that you are compromising to a degree as the price you will pay for friends, & then you will find yourself wondering if it is realy worth it after a few seasons, I imagine.

On the other hand, I could be completely wrong.
You might find great people & get just what you need wherever The Spirit leads you.

I guess some prayer is in order.
I bet your husband is good at that, too.

Heh, can't say that I whole heartedly agree with all of her philosophy; the virtue of selfishness for example. But I do like her philosophy which is stated in her quote, "I swear, by my life and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine."

I think that for the most part the hubby has his head on. But just like everyone else, he has the occasional slip up. 'Sok though, we manage. As for me, I'm still working out exactly what it is I want not only in my spiritual life but my secular life as well. I've tried on a few hats and I do believe this has lead to some confusion on the part of my husband. We're working through all this though.

You mentioned that if I were concerned about doctrine, I would have to have the knowledge that I would be compromising this as the price of having friends.

You are absolutely right and it has been just over the past few days that I've realised that the decision to break away from the "Church of Laodocia" is a hard and lonely decision. I am still grappling with this one. Some days I am happy with this and other days I am not so happy. I am still looking for a congregation which will make me feel comfortable but until then, I suppose I'll be doing most of my Bible study at home.

I need a bit of advice here. I got an email from a friend I have not heard from in years. Her husband has been pastor of a few churches but he is not at this time. She asked me to pray for them to find a fellowship as they are without right now. She doesn't know I am "out", ya think I should send her a link to the "unchurched" forum?

YEs. THat is my only answer, honesty is an important thing in any relationship. Should you feel it appropriate, send her the link to this forum as well.

I love the sound of your relationship. Sounds like you guys are secure enough in your love for each other to give each other some space to work out the ol' identity crisis routine.

The "some days I'm happy, & some days I'm not" situation will remain the same no matter where God leads you, I suspect(until Kingdome come).

This part I can sympathize with except for one man...
"I swear, by my life and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine." - you know who I'm talkin' 'bout.

Anyway, it appears you are aware of the fact that the "source comprimise" for all this mess is the God given fact that we are IN the world, but not OF it. You just seek to be looking for the most comfortable spot in an uncomfortable world. You get ALL my sympathy!^_^
I'm in the SAME BOAT!
Praise God He lived AND died for us men!
