  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

THE TWO WOLVES

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that was
going on inside himself.

He said, "My son, it is between 2 wolves. One is evil: Anger, envy,
sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment,
inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority and ego... The other is
good: Joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith..."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his
grandfather, "Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one I feed."

This story reminds me of something...

A bit more then three years ago, I discovered the internet. I had done some emailing at university, but now I had 'the net' at home. I didn't really know what to do with it for some days, till I bumped into a roleplaying site. I was quite lucky. It was a nice friendly room in which people recreated medieval life.
From imagination, I made my character. A gentle lady, with a true medieval attitude in most things, but also a kindness, gentleness and patience that was well beyond my own. She would always see the good in people. ALWAYS. No matter if someone came running to her with a sword, she would somehow find good. She was patient, she could understand people, listen to their problems, talk to them.
For three years I have played this lady... and so much of her has become me. I try each day more, to grow into the kindness she has, and I practice through her.

She's a figment of my imagination, but she has thaught me so much. Now I sometimes wonder, if I would have grown so much if I had played a character that was less gentle.

I definately have to agree with you. It is the same for me in the roleplaying. What is fun is bringing out your character in the real life like you bring out yourself in the roleplaying world....

Wonderful story Storyteller... again, VERY true like all you post..

That sounds wonderful faerieeva. I wish more people would use the Internet for such purposes.:)
