In Genesis? It's a tree, just like it says. It also foreshadows Christ, like a lot of things in the Old Testament do.
Yeah in Genesis! As I thought they could eat from the Tree of Life, because they had not sinned yet.

So basically after Adam and Eve sin, they can't eat from the tree of life, because their eyes had been opened to evil? Right, Hopefully I got it, so now I can move on with my reading =):amen:

Hi everyone I just started reading the Bible, have patience with me! And I'm a little confused, when God talks about the tree of life, what does he mean? :scratch:
Hi xmoongirlx. Don't know if I can give a real clear answer to that but I will take a stab at it.

I would recommend reading the NT thru a few times first before starting on the OT. The whole Bible from Genesis to Revelation is a story of mankind being cast out of the Garden of Life and once again being let back in it thru Jesus the Christ. First understand Jesus and the mission of His Father then I think you will understand the OT better. That is how I started, and also much of the OT is quoted in the NT and reveals a lot of things that were hidden.

We get Knowledge of YHWH thru His Word, Spirit and obedience, and I would say the Tree of Knowledge would symbolize a type of the "Carnal" Knowledge in Man, whereas the TOL represented Spiritual nourishment/life from YHWH and His Knowledge.
Hope this helps and enjoy the Bible!!! :wave:

Gene 2:16 And YHWH 'Elohiym is laying command on the 'adam to say: "from of every tree/06086 `ets of the garden to eat, thou shall eat.
17 And from tree/06086 `ets of the knowledge of good and evil, not thou shall eat from him, that in day of thee to eat from him, to die thou shall die".

Genesis 22:9 And they come in unto the place of which 'Elohiym hath spoken to him, and there Abraham buildeth the altar, and arrangeth the wood/06086 `ets, and bindeth Yitschaq his son, and placeth him upon the altar above the wood/06086 `ets;

Acts 13:29 and when they did finish all the things written about Him, having taken down from the wood/xulou<3586>, they laid Him in a tomb;

Reve 22:14 Happy the ones rinsing the robes of them, that it shall be the authority/ex-ousia <1849> of them on the wood/xulon <3586> of the Life, and to the gates they may be into-coming into the city.

'After he drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.' Ge 3:24 NIV

That life must be eternal life after this one- and the bearer of its fruits must be Christ and His sacrifice.

xmoongirlx,

I wouldn't get sidetracked with such questions the first time through. I suggest starting with Genesis and reading the bible as a novel, or narrative, all the way through. Many questions that come up are answered as you move through the story. I would start with a version that you comfortable reading. For later study purposes I like the AV for the dignity of its prose, and, the concordance and commentaries are based on that translation.
