Oh I love you. I'm so thrilled you didn't know that was from Twilight.
Ok, it takes me a while  :D You're talking about names from the "currently trendy books" list! I had been really confused  :p

Twilight is a series of books about vampires that's recently been made into a movie (the first book, I think?). It's a pop culture thing for the younger crowd, and is supposed to be "so uplifting" or some such.

Some one I know named their boy Xylan.

Sounds like an anti-depressant to me.

For a boy, hubby and I are dead set on the name Theoden for some reason. We've discussed it for five years and it hasn't left us.

Is this thread still going strong. I just was gonna put in my input. Back when I was a teen and I thought I wanted kids because 'it was the normal thing to do'. I had names picked out...and none were trendy. These trendy names and 'creative' ones just bug me.

Personally, I hate my first name. I'm somewhat named after my great grandma. But, my name has now become synonymous with one Tejano singer who was murdered when I was like 7. And, with another singer who was dating Justin Beiber. Yes, my name is Selena...kill me now.

The names I had picked out for kids if I ever had them were...

For a boy: Kevin, Miles, or Elliott
For a girl: Rozalyn (Roz for short) or Natalie.

But, it's a moot point now. Because, I figured out over the years that not every has to have kids. And, I just didn't want them.

Old thread; I miss a lot of people that posted here.
I hate hippie names that just end up sounding like pet animal names. I helped at a school fundraiser recently and a couple there named their kids Panther and FeFe (really). Why??? It sounds like a pair of cats.

Don't worry. With names like that, those kids will stay at home with mommy and daddy until they're 43. They'll have masters degrees in Sociology and make their living arguing with people over environmental matters at the local Starbucks....all.....day....long.
