Proverbs 29:11

A fool vents all his feelings,
But a wise man holds them back

Ecclesiastes 5:2

Be not rash with your mouth, and let not your heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and you on earth: therefore let your words be few

Sometimes we speak impulsively and forget the fear of the Lord. Since God hears everything, and because He is love, let us be diligent to speak words of life to one another.

Lord Jesus, please cleanse our hearts to speak rightly before you. Help us to remember that you hear everything we say and see everything we do. Give us self-control to reign in our foolish thoughts and feelings. We thank you it is to the glory of a man to overlook a transgression.

Everyday struggle! Lord help us not to have speech that are self-serving, but are of servanthood and wisdom.

Generally I agree, we should be careful about what we say. But I also think we shouldn't let fear silence us. We aren't always in the right mind when something needs to be said. Sometimes it's better to say what's on your mind imperfectly, then it is to say nothing. If we wait for perfection, not much will be said and not much will be done.
