I guess it takes faith to believe in creation, faith is not science
copyChkboxOff.gif
Heb 11:1

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Interesting quote. Whose opinion is it?
The EVIDENCE of things not seen?

Electricity, air, lots of things are highly evident
tho not seen.

I dont do " faith" as in blind, evidence free faith.
I need reasons to believe.
Too pragmatic I guess.

If your son had asthma when he was a child and had to use an inhaler before he played sports and another inhaler to catch his breath when he exerted himself then he asked his Church to pray for him and he never had to use an inhaler again would that be a reason?

No. Asthma remission is fairly common (my sister would be an example I am aware of). Try again?

It just happens overnight? You can't breathe one day and you're playing football the next? With the timing I would have to say it's more than a coincidence

I didn't say that, nor did your question. Try again?
This happened overnight. The next day he went to football practice and never used an inhaler again. I have seen other things that can't be explained

Did it? You have the medical evidence to back this up?

Lots of similar anecdotes out there that don't stand up to scrutiny.

How can I have medical evidence? He needed the inhaler one day and the next day he didn't. The only thing that had changed was that people prayed for him. That was all the evidence I needed. I have also seen plenty of fraud, mass hysteria and self deception so I can usually tell the difference.

For those of us who are believers it was assuredly divine providence, but you have no real evidence that the prayer caused it. God may well have decided on a need for intervention independently of the boy's friends and loved ones. In any case, a prayer of thanksgiving is certainly in order.

You are not convinced by arguments supported by evidence, yet you think an unsupported anecdote should count as a convincing argument?

Of course that’s how it happened. No possibility that he didn't actually need the inhaler the day/week/month before the prayer and of course he never used an inhaler at a later date.

No you didn't.

Did I not say there was a point that we could not test?
Did I not specifically mention what that point was?

Jesus said he was the truth, AV -- and if truth is to have no part in your arguments, then clearly neither is Jesus.

I am convinced of many things supported by evidence but now I am reminded of what AV said about casting your pearls

You would say it,but you wouldn't have to say it -- it would be a choice.

If he's right who am I to argue. I agree with you sometimes
And I sometimes agree with you.

I also quote you... And when I do, I do so honestly and with no attempts to distort or deceive.

I do the same with AV... Although I have long since learned not to expect reciprocity.

When he got the inhalers the coach said he is the most improved player on the team. Why? Because he couldn't breathe before. There's no doubt he needed them. After he asked for prayer he never used them again. If that is asthma remission I will take that and still give thanks to God. Either way my son could breathe when he played sports after people prayed for him.

Coming from you i will take this as an accurate
assassment of an experience.
I woild not be likely to take as evidence that anything
suoernatural exists.

The stats on prayer healing dont favour it really
working.
It would be terrific if it did!
