  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

When someone dies, it seems like their family and friends usually assume that they are in Heaven (never Hell of course). But in Revelations, the dead are resurrected so that they can be judged. Do people just wait for the rapture in their graves until they're resurrected and judged?

Dear Nim,none of us really knows what happens when we die,but according to some near-death experiences, many who went through them, had lost all fear of death.May I give my own thoughts?I am a Christian and I believe what Jesus told the thief on the cross next to Him:"because you believe,I promise that you will be with me in paradise today."And something else seems very obvious to me,when we are told in the bible and very often at funerals,we all will be resurrected on the last day, what can be our last day, except the last day on earth, when we leave our bodies. As soon as death claims our earthly remains, our souls will go back to our Maker, unless we ourselves have chosen not to go back to God.I believe we will find us somewhere in the universe without God`s Light and wail and gnash our teeth.I know for sure that I will keep on praying,to find all my loved ones in paradise,or Heaven, but with God.sincere greeting from Emmy,a sister in Chrst.

Some people believe that there is a waitng place. For the good, it's called the bosom of Abraham or paradise, and for the wicked - hell, but leaving time and entering into eternity may be something we don't understand at all, but can speculate about.
In eternity, there is no time, no past, no future in the sense that we know it. There is only "now". The Bible tells us that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. So those that are good and in right standing with God go immediately to be with Jesus, and since there is no time line, we will all gather together at the same moment in the sky with the saints as in Jude 14:

Jude 1:14 Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, "Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints,

2Co 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

The step into eternity will be the same step made by others throughout history, and we all meet with the Lord. Of course this is just my speculation and some others I've read like Arthur Custance's book "Time and Eternity", but there is also an account given about Lazarus and the rich man in Luke where the rich man looked accross the gulf between heaven and hell to see Lazarus in paradise that supports the waiting place idea of paradise and hell. (Luke 16:20-31) Also, scripture tells us that hell and death are thrown into the lake of fire.

Re 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Yes iam not saved yet neither i have been but I have been thinkin of going back to the lord something is telling me and pulling me further towards him at times then away but anyways back to you're question. When we die we get our judgment on if we followed god we go to his kingdom if we ewfused him then it is hell. When the rapture occurs our bodies are takin out of the graves and enter into the kingdom of heaven.

I don't understand this part of the Bible at all, do you mean our skeletons? My body will be decomposed by then. So there is nothing left but bones...
And what about the people who are alive at the rapture time? Anyone know anything about it?

I think that is a very good point. Jesus did say that man would be with him in paradise that day. I also would like to point out that there will be a new heaven and a new earth.

The holybible teaches us when our body dies our spirit the real you
goes to the appointed place to wait on Jesus Christ to place us.
also when you leave your body a angel that has been with you
recording your life from the time you get here as a babe till the
time your body dies.
the angel of God carries your spirit ,the book of you life, which is a record of your life to the place God wonts it.
That is why the holy bible says to be absent from your body
is to be presant with christ at the death of your body if
you are a christian.
All spirits return to God at the death of their body.
What most people dont know your spirit the real you came
from heaven and was placed in your body when your parents
created you a body to live in.
All this is taught in the holy bible you just haft to dig in.

While some of the above is true.. the rest, I fear, has been dug from the wrong place. Where did you find about these angels assigned to record lives? Where also did you find that your spirit was in heaven first? That is a Mormon teaching, is it not?

There are mysteries in scripture about this... and no answer that will satisfy everyone (no matter how hard you dig...). I believe the indication is that the soul is immediately judged... but that the end-of-time speaks of the judgement of the body also. For how else shall the dead in Christ preceed us, and be raised first, and at the same time the souls of the martyrs (them that were slain for the word of God) be waiting under the altar ... ?

If a person is saved and dies the bible says "To be absent from the body is to be present from the Lord"
If they arent saved they are in Hell awaiting the day.
There will be 2 different judgements!
1st for the saints, we will be judged for our stewerdship for Jesus after we got saved, meaning that Jesus will show us what we did for him after we got saved. we will still go to heaven even if we did nothing but just believe, But we will be ashamed in his presence if we dont work for him.
The second will be the Great white throne judgement for those who rejected Jesus & will be judged for their sinfilled godless lifestyle. So if you are saved work hard to earn yourself a crown to cast back at Jesus feet! dont be one who doesnt and always remember be gentle when talking to the unsaved never cram anything down their throats! be very gentle and patient plant that seed well...someone cannot be saved or convicted until they hear the word of God as the final authority...:amen:

A Christian i know has been to heaven he was there for 5 and one half hours.
He can tell you ever thing that goes on there.

Thats not all do you have the holy spirit are you a Christian.?
The holy spirit is our connection with Jehovah and his Son King Jesus Christ.
If you have the Son you also have the father If you have the father you also have the holyspirit if you have ask for it.
the holy spirit speaks everything the Father and son says get to know the
real God and you will also know him for yourself

The rapture is only for those still alive on earth who are in Christ on the day He returns. As Persianboy said earlier, the dead who are not in Christ will wait until the second resurrection, and their bodies will be resurrected from the grave and the even sea will give up its dead. One person asked hdow this is possible, but God made Adam from the dust and clay of the earth and know the hairs on our heads. He knows where each thing is inside of Himslf and that is where we have our being - inside of God. Blessed are those that have part in the first resurrection because it is to eternal life, and these people meet the Lord in the air along with those who were alive on earth at His returning. When they see Jesus, they will be like Him and have their eternal body immediately - "in the twinkling of an eye". The second resurrection or Great White throne judgmnet is for those who died without ever accepting God's gift of salvation through Jesus. It is here that the books are opened and the accounts given and taken.
The Christian's judgment for sin was at the cross and paid for in full by Jesus.

Rev.20:Re 20:5 But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.

Rev.20:11 ¶ Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.
13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works.
14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
