• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The Thanksgiving Thread!

First and foremost I want to thank God for His acts of mercy and grace in my life.

I'm so grateful for my family - my father and his wife (who will never take my mom's place, but oh what a substitute:thumbsup: ), my husband, son & daughter, my daughter-in-law - mother to two of the greatest joys I've experienced, my much loved grandsons, my sisters and their families.

I'm grateful that I have a job to go to every day - and that my work is appreciated.

Finally - I'm grateful for my health - for the strength and courage that God has given me as I live with cancer (I'm coming up on the 1 year anniversary of my diagnosis). He's truly answered my prayers in this area - I couldn't ask for anything more.

you folks are going to make me cry (and then my eyes will get all red and my face all splotchy - nothing pretty that's for sure.)

seriously though - who knew that on-line friends could mean so much - I'm so very grateful for the prayer and fellowship I've received here, it means the world to me (have to stop now - getting hard to see through the tears)

The Lord is still Jehovah Rapha, the Lord our healer, hallelujah! I stood alone on His Word. But you don't have to sis. I am here standing in faith and believing along side of you.
That was nearly 5 years ago that all of my tests came back absolutely normal! Praise the Lord!

praying for you Jim. :groupray:

edie

thanks~passed a "20 years as a Christian" milestone that when I look back I should be thankful but feel like there were an awful lot of failures; it also coincides with 20 years of living in PA and 20 years at my job (yeah it all happened within a month)...maybe I'm just gettin' a little "middle-aged crazy"?

I am really thankful for cf though-even if it ended and closed today I was introduced to Eastern Orthodoxy~and haven't been quite the same since~and had a lot of my thoughts and presuppositions challenged, shown-especially by the "radical" left and right-to always challenge the question, and the great people I've met here, though I miss the folks that are gone: lambslove, green-eyed lady, lord's envoy, gang from the old B/A forum...

This is for you Jim. I tried to get a sound byte on it, but was unable to find a good one. Couldn't find it on youtube either. It is by Phillips Craig and Dean. But here are the words. They have a lot of anointed music and this is of my favorite songs by them. Hopefully you know it, so you can hear it in your heart when you read the lyrics. I thought of this song because of what you said. That you feel kind of far from where you feel you should be .........ie., your failures. Which I believe we all feel that way at one time or another. I hope this blesses you this morning.

God bless! :hug::hug::hug:

Mercy Came Running

Once there was a holy place
Evidence of God's embrace
And I can almost see mercy's face
Pressed against the veil

Looking down with longing eyes
Mercy must have realized
That once His blood was sacrificed
Freedom would prevail

And as the sky grew dark
And the earth began to shake
With justice no longer in the way

Chorus:
Mercy came running
Like a prisoner set free
Past all my failures to the point of my need
When the sin that I carried
Was all I could see
And when I could not reach mercy
Mercy came running to me

Once there was a broken heart
Way too human from the start
And all the years left it torn apart
Hopeless and afraid

Walls I never meant to build
Left this prisoner unfulfilled
Freedom called but even still
It seemed so far away

I was bound by the chains
From the wages of my sin
Just when I felt like giving in

repeat chorus

Sometimes I still feel so far
So far from where I really should be
He gently calls to my heart
Just to remind me

repeat chorus

I am tired, depressed, anxious~I want to be thankful and grateful...

We all have an awful lot of failures, brother.
But - you are still going on with God 20 years on, and that is awesome!
And you are a great encouragement and blessing to many of us!

Thank You, Lord for Jim, and for all of my brothers and sisters here who constantly help, encourage and bless me.
Thank You for the fellowship and love that we have here, and for the way you are changing us into Your image day by day.
Amen

oh my friend please know that even in the darkest of our hours the Lord is with us carrying us through. We are sinful creatures and he knows that. We have a lot of pitfalls and sometimes ups and downs in our walk with God, but one thing is for sure if we have not forsaken Him then he has not forsaken us. You have been used as one of God's advocates with me so I know that God is in YOU!
