  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I watched this the other day, it's one of my favorite childhood movies.
In my opinion, this one is the best of the 3. A lot of people really liked the second movie the best, but I just like the whole attitude in the first one so much more.
It was rated R, unlike the second one, so it had bad language, and a brief nudity scene, and the violence was more intense.
I always liked rated R movies done in this style. The nudity isn't porn style at all, but yet it adds to the chemistry of the leading male and female characters.
This really helps the movie have a totally different feel, than PG type movies.

This movie launched Arnold into a super star status. And it seemed that every movie made after it was written in that same one line "I'll be back" style for Arnold.

I watched the documentory and here are some facts.
- The 3 guys that Arnold beats up/kills in the beginning to get his cloths, one of them was Bill Paxton(wierd science) and another guy was the bad guy from Cobra(Stallone movie)

- Arnold was originally interviewed to be Reese, the good guy who saves Linda Hamilton. James Cameron didn't like him for that part, and was going to let him go when he thought about putting him as the Terminator.

- The original Terminator was designed to be ordinary looking, someone who blended in a crowd. In fact, it was one of the cops in Terminator (the white detective. He also played "Bishop" the android in Alien and Aliens) who was casted for the part. He even dressed up in costume to get ready for it.
What a bum deal he got out of it.

- This was James Camerons first movie. Which is amazing to say the least. Why a writer/director would take on such a huge movie for his first is beyond me.

I liked 2 the best. It was more emotional. Dude, come on man..the ending to 2 was so freakin sad. It humanized the Terminator...which really added a whole layer of new depth to it rather then just being a straight killing machine.

As a script writer..I also have never found a need to put nudity in film. It's fan-service. Nothing more.

I cry in almost every movie that calls for the audience to shed some tears, and I did not cry in T2.
Atleast I don't think I did, I wouldn't be surprised thou.

I liked how they made Arnold the good guy, because the only other way I could see them doing part 2 is if they had more terminators.

The first one was a complete story. It most certianly had depth.

Well if you want to use the word "need", you pretty much don't need to put anything in a movie, just something. ;)
To me, putting nudity in the way it was, is nothing different the the Songs of Solomon and how they describe the female body.
It's a mature, none porn kind of nudity, that represents the beauty of the human body.
Like the painting of David reaching out to God, or was it Abraham? (painting)

A lot of films are aimed at teenagers, because they spend more money than anyone else in the theaters. That dampens the film for me, because it has that teenager style to it. Things are a little more simple, less action, less depth in the romance side of the story.
