I memorized them as a child, but not sure I could recite them word for word anymore, the brain not being quite so fresh as it was back then.
My 12yo daughter is reciting in my ear as follows:
- Thou shalt not have any gods before Me.
- Thou shalt not commit adultery.
- Thou shalt not kill.
- Thou shalt not steal.
- Thou shalt not disrespect your mother and father.
- Thou shalt not take the LORD's name in vain.
- Something about the neighbor and their animals and everything.
- Thou shalt not lie.
- Honor the Sabbath because it's holy.
Well, 8 and kind of a half is pretty good considering it's been a few years since she memorized them.
I was able to remember "no idols" and "no coveting" while she was saying what she remembered, so between us, we managed the whole list.
This is probably a good time to re-start our family memorization program.
