I wanted to start a discussion on the 50th state, we've been to the islands of Oaahu, Kaui, & the Big Island, is anybody in here from HI?? if so how do you like whatever island you are from & living on? do you like the beaches there?? how about the tradtions of Hula Dancing & having a Luau??

I was in Hawaii one time in 1970; we stopped in Honolulu on the way to return vacation with the U.S. Army; here is a travel Vlog for the gem in the middle of the Pacific ocean:

The vacation was back in the states--Minnesota to be precise--then went back across the ocean from San Fran to LuLu then to Vietnam. Beautiful country!

Well it was 1969 and a war was going; but outside of that; it was cool,

Yes it was fun; if you think fun is leaving Chisholm, Minnesota in a blizzard in Feb, 1969 with the temp down to a balmy -20F -29C

I did!

and arrive in Cam Ranh Bay, Vietnam with the temp --in the shade--122F 50C

It's lucky we didn't break like a dish taken out of the freezer and put into hot water! Oh, we also were packing 80 lb duffel bags full of all our clothes. I had never been in heat much over 100F 38C--I remember walking around in a daze--expecting to croak of heat stroke at any minute--but we made it--Minnysotins are tough!LOL

I now live in Oregon; it's warmer!

I think some readers may have missed the fact that this particular trip to Vietnam and back was the kind where many people came home in a box.

Yes; some did that; but I was glad the Army took me in; and wouldn't of missed going over there for nothing; it was an adventure of a life time. I'm sorry for derailing your thread shortangel; it just seemed to come out.

wowww you're a veteran who fought in vitenam??? thank you for your service, i don't think i have any pics of our trip to HI does anyone have any other opinions about HI???

Besides what I have learned from Magnum P.I or Hawaii 5-O, Hawaii is a welcoming state. I would love to live there someday....but due to my lack of funds and the loneliness of living by myself in a strange state, I doubt it will come to fruition. BUT, dreams are free!
