  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi Iceman
Hi Seeker
Hi Erwin
Hi SOS
Hi Max....

Anyway... I'm FFX...

Iceman... I just wanted to know... what did you mean by the "standards". Are you talking about family, schools etc which influence our character building?

or are you talking about "standards" as in morals?

Hi FFX.
The "Standards" I'm referring to is all that you have mentioned ... aspects that influece character building.

It's so easy to go along u'r merry way, but when others talk about standards, it reminds you to look at u'rself.

And when u do that, u start to look at the standards around you. Then you think how you are making an impact on them (in a good sense and bad sense).

And after making a 360 degree look, you wonder what should the standards be in particular situations.

Sometimes it's nice to be a child and just listen to the father. Problem is some have turned off their hearing aids in dear of wasting their battery. Other's have just been playing too much loud music and gone deaf.

Boy ... I'm begining to sound too philosophical ... I think I'll have to rest a while. I'm getting too wound up.

Good nite.

I get it now ^_^...

so in one way your saying that, what was taboo then should still be taboo now... but instead we find that today's standards have dropped... and people are seemingly more acceptable.

I think character building starts with the family...

The thing to remember is that EVERYONE falls short of the glory or standards of God. God's standards are nothing short of perfect holiness, which we can never achieve. We don't have to achieve these because Jesus has died for us, and we no longer live under condemnation but under grace.

It is not by works, but by grace are we saved.

Extremely tru .. eveyone falls short of the golry of God.
.. and only by grace are we saved, not by works.

Yet we constantly need to work at our faith.
We often sell Jesus to those who have not known Jesus personally, that we are saved by His grace. And it sounds like we don't have to do anything else after we have accepted that He is our Lord.
But I reckon that how the world's standards drop everyday as well.

When I talk about character building, it's the real person I'm talking about, not the image of man. Yes ... hipocritical pharisees don't achieve much. But I believe we all need to be constantly aware of our actions, not in fear of what others may think of us, but what it can do to others.

Influence, we do it everyday to those around us ... such a potent force, that can be used to build others, and help yourself greatly. But easily abused.

Why exactly would you respond to a thread that hasn't had a response in almost 6 years? Seems a bit pointless, especially since the OP seems a bit rhetorical anyway.

For that matter what in the world was your answer supposed to reflect?
