The Speed Limit

How many people here actually go the speed limit?

The speed that I drive used to depended upon my mood.

Now I drive the speed limit, because God wants me to. IT IS SOOOO DIFFICULT! I can't believe how many people ride my bumper. It's hard because I want to make the people behind me at ease and drive faster, but then I realize...it isn't about them or me...it's about God and what He calls me to do...even in the small stuff.

I know that it seems silly, but God works not only in the big stuff, but the small too.

Yes, it is amazing how God works in all things. He expects us to obey all laws, and be subject to our governments.

It is interesting about speed though. In California, for instance, though the speedmay be posted 70, if the flow of traffic is 90, you are expected to drive 90, and you can actually receive a ticket for driving the posted speed limit. Can you believe it? Now how tricky is that!

Come again? You can be ticketed for obeying the law? I think I'd be arguing that one before the judge.[/size]

OK! I will come again. I lived in California for 10 years. I have a cousin who got a ticket on the San Bernadino freeway for doing 80 miles per hour, when the flow of traffic was 93. He argued his case in court. He lost.

Just when I thought I'd heard everything. That's pretty wild, Gerry.

I live in Omaha, NE-- and I am trying to imagine how the scenario would play out if I was pulled over on the interstate for doing 90 mph in a 60.

"But officer, everyone else was going 90 mph, so I thought I should, too."

I'm sure he/she would laugh all the way back to their squad car after they gave me my ticket.

Now that is crazy!! Like Michelle posted, if you were to try that around here, you'd be laughed at. The roads I travel on are mostly 35 miles per hour, but everyone wants to go 55-60mph. Especially the teenagers in their Mustangs. They are kind of scary too.

Because of your posting Autumn, I drive today correctly and I obey all the rules, even speeding too. Thanks again. I needed your posting to keep me obeying the law.

I am glad that this has helped you. Would you really go to jail for speeding there?
