Peace in Christ.
Again, the Son of man (the life of Jesus that is supposed to be manifest in our mortal flesh) is being prevented from appearing in this earth by those who are “preaching themselves” ….and who have no understanding of the gospel because of it...the preaching for their earthly things.
They are not saving those they are “preaching” to as no flesh is being saved.
They are ignorantly doing this ....and are forgiven for it. They know not what they are doing. They have been blinded to the truth of the gospel by their earthly mindedness….preaching for hire to get their earthly needs met.
By preaching without understanding, they are actively removing the “daily sacrifice” of our Lord (always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus) out of those they are preaching to. The Son of man = the life of Jesus being made manifest in our mortal bodies.

(10) Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
And so the appearing life of the Son of man is not being made manifest in the flesh of His people. The Son of man “goes” away…shrinks out of view from this world… as written of Him.

(21) The Son of man indeed goeth, as it is written of him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! good were it for that man if he had never been born.
His manifest life is in the “heart of the earth”…that is, being hid because of the lack of understanding of the gospel because of the preachers’ earthly mindedness (the heart of the earth). Their hearts are minding earthly things (the heart of the earth)....and so they cannot understand.
Their hearts all together are going after earthly things and so they cannot understand the gospel. Their hearts are all together in this…the “heart” …singular
But they are forgiven for these things as they do them in their ignorance of the gospel of truth which they are not preaching to their congregations who are being destroyed because of it. The “temple of His body” is being destroyed.
The Son of man is in the “heart of the earth” 3 days and 3 nights.
His sacrifice (the 3 days) covers their not knowing the gospel of truth…their ignorance (the 3 nights). It has been a period of “nights”….not knowing the gospel…for His people.

(40) For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
The Son of man has suffered many things during this period of “nights”….the not knowing of the gospel among His people.
He is been rejected by their church leaders and their scribes who have written their handwritings of church ordinances/dogmas for their congregations to keep and serve.
The Son of man is being “killed” off from appearing in this world. The life of Jesus is not being made manifest in this world because of what they are doing. No flesh is being saved. Jesus BEGAN to teach them this....as it is continuing to this day. He is still teaching us now as this is the situation we are currently in.

(31) And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.
The “hire”….the truth of the gospel…is being kept back by fraud (preaching the Word of God deceptively for their personal gain) from those who would benefit from hearing it.
Jas 5:4-6 KJV
(4) Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.
The Son of man is being hid in the “heart of the earth” as they live in pleasure on the earth. Their hearts are only going after earthly things….and are not preaching the gospel of truth to their “laborers” whom they are deceiving.
Yet, they are allowed to rejoice as they “nourish” their hearts as in the day of slaughter (of the people that are not receiving the gospel of truth from them.)
(5) Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.
The life of Jesus…the Just One…the Prince of life…is not being made manifest in His people because of this situation.
(6) Ye have condemned and killed the just (Just One); and he doth not resist you.
They do this in ignorance of the gospel of truth. They know not what they are doing.
They kill the Prince of life (the manifest life of Jesus in our mortal flesh….the appearing of the Son of man). God has already raised Jesus from the dead so that we might have His life now in our mortal flesh. Yet, they are preventing His life from appearing in the flesh of those they are ruling.

(14) But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you;
(15) And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.
(16) And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
In ignorance do we do it. The church rulers are in ignorance as they do this.
(17) And now, brethren, I wot that through ignorance ye did it, as did also your rulers.
And while this is happening in the churches of ignorant men, He is being blasphemed by the outside world…the “gentiles”…the nations of this world. They mock Him and scourge Him with their evil words. All nations hate us because of His name’s sake. We have been living in the “times of the gentiles/nations” while they are doing this.

(33) Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles:
(34) And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.
They....the church leaders (the "chief priests and the scribes") ...shall deliver you up to be afflicted and shall kill you. They are not preaching the gospel of truth to you and so we His people are being afflicted and killed as in a day of slaughter. We are hated of ALL nations for His name's sake during this "time of the gentiles".

But as Saul/Paul (who once destroyed the church) showed us…the grace of the Lord is exceedingly abundant towards us as we have done these things ignorantly in unbelief. We can be forgiven for these things.

(13) Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
(14) And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
(15) This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
(16) Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
