Or - as I understand it: I was made righteous by God through faith. I was saved by Christ through faith.

Also every time we repent we become sinless since God forgive our sins.
The question is how is sin defined in the bible or what is sin?
5solas said:No one is sinless, except God/Jesus Christ/The Holy Spirit.
Google "Total Depravity" and you will understand what I mean.

How can we still be sinners but forgiven? That's like saying i forgave you from the $20 you owe me but you still owe me $20.5solas said:All the sins are forgiven but we remain sinners (justified sinners) as long as we live on this earth and in these bodies. To be sinless implies that one cannot sin anylonger - and that's just not true:
1Jo 1,5And this is the message which we have heard from him and announce unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
1Jo 1,6If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
1Jo 1,7but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
1Jo 1,8If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1Jo 1,9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1Jo 1,10If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
That's Gods grace: we can go to Jesus with all our sins and he will forgive us all our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
There is only one place when there will be no more sin and where we will not sin any longer (Revelation 21)

When you confess your sins don't you become rightoues according to 1john 1:9?
To be sinless seems to mean that one doesn't have sins not that he can't sin.

Question: What is Sin?

That depends on how often you repent.5solas said:We need to be forgiven all the time.....
Tell me, how long does your state of sinlessnes usually last?

The Law of God being the 10 Commandments. In order to understand just a small part of obeying the Commandments, look at the Larger Catechism questions and answers 99 through 148. If you don't have a Catechism handy one may be found on the internet.

You can ask God constantly for forgiveness. Would he get tired of you or would he still forgive you?
orthedoxy said:Can you give answer without relying on tradition?
What Catechism are you talking about?
If he forgives our sins wouldn't that mean we are sinless every time we repent?5solas said:God will always forgive someone who asks him - he even works through His Holy Spirit that I will come and repent (Philippians 2,13). And: God never gets tired
Elderone said:Possibly for the short time it takes to ask for forgiveness.

Do you seriously believe it is possible not to sin in word, thought or deed almost constantly?
