  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Dear Daily Message Readers,

READ: 2 Corinthians 8

2 Corinthians 8:9 (NIV) "For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich."

A pastor sent his parents a microwave oven one Christmas. He recalled their experience: "They were excited that now they, too, could be a part of the instant generation. When Dad unpacked the microwave and plugged it in, literally within seconds, the microwave transformed two smiles into frown! Even after reading the directions, they couldn't make it work. Two days later, my mother was playing bridge with a friend and confessed her inability to get that microwave oven even to boil water. 'To get this thing to work,' she exclaimed, 'I really don't need directions; I just need my son to come along with some help!'"

When God sent His only Son Jesus Christ, He did not send us Someone complicated and hard to understand. Instead, He gave us a perfect example to follow so we might find forgiveness and a way to heaven to have eternal fellowship with Him in heaven.

Somewhere in the last two thousand years, though, we have made His message complicated. In our own efforts, we have tried to do good things, give money, and be religious to take the place of Jesus' sacrificial death. We have even gone so far as to make this part of our message when sharing the Gospel. However, these things will never replace the simple truth about salvation concerning Jesus: Only He can take us to the Father in heaven (John 14:6).

John 14:6 "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

Are you thankful for the easy-to-understand Gospel message? If so, then make it known to the nations that Jesus is the only Way to heaven. Faith Lesson: "If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me."--Luke 9:23

In Christ,
Darin Smith
