I went to an Episcopal church for the first time today, and I asked some questions but forgot one.

Does it matter which way you cross yourself in the Anglican tradition? I like doing it the Eastern Orthodox way and I noticed that everyone does it the "western" way, naturally. Would it be going seriously against the grain to do it the eastern way in an Anglican church?

I was really surprised that the local Episcopal church is rather High Church, I wish I had gone before. Very nice, it was very much like the Orthodox church I've frequented this year, but felt like it had been given an Anglo-Celtic twist or something. I liked it, except the kneeling, that killed my knees and they started spasming towards the end and for an hour afterward. I can't do that.

Crossing yourself in the Eastern fashion is fine, though you'll be in the minority.

Find yourself an Anglo-Catholic parish that says all the prayers standing and spare your knees

I cross myself Eastern-style as well, and none of the clergy I've had the pleasure of knowing have ever objected.

As for kneeling, when it comes to Communion time, you are welcome to stand.

I think it isn't toooo much of a stretch to say you can do jumping jacks in the pew and people won't look at you that strange, so crossing yourself is personal preference, lol.
