There are 7 shots on the bottom of the crest, representing the truths of the Gosel.

Why 7 ?

What are the 7 truths?

Well- sometimes there aren't 7, I have crest with 5, so I assume they dont represent any particular truth.

My guess was that they relate to the old Army tradition of firing a Gospel shot. Does that sound about right?

Andy actually is a great thinker and he makes us think also. You all should come join him/us in the pub. I have always been facinated by the Salvation Army and it has been so good getting to know Andy!! This morning i am looking forward to discussing Salvation Army/Catholic/other Christian music with him.

I was always taught that the 7 shots represented the 7 Hallelujah Lassies that arrived with Railton upon the Australia. I know this this not accurate, but it makes a good story for us here in the States. However, after looking in several Army books here at my house, and searching the Army websites hosted in the US I have learned that in fact there have been various numbers of "shots" on the crest and that they really do not represent anything at all. But I also must place a disclaimer here. I have taught Jr. Soldier classes in the past and I know beyond a shadow of a doubt there were 7 gospel truths that aligned with the 7 shots on the crest. I have yet to find my old Jr. Soldier material though.
