• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Manga~that's those Japanese cartoon books? I've seen some anime movies~some are well done. I live near Gettysburg, loads of Civil War books in the used bookstores around here:thumbsup:
Right about the Manga.
I hope to get back down to Gettysburg again someday.

This whole area is thick with Civil War history~my town was burned by the rebs during the war for not paying ransom~about the only building they spared was the Masonic building...ok, I derail anymore.. :sorry:

I read The Shack. I was not impressed.

I don't think reading should be censored because something is theologically unsound. If you are taking your understanding from anywhere except the Bible you are already on dangerous ground theologically, imo.

Quite frankly, the only thing The Shack made me think about was "Should I put down this boring book." I kept slogging through it because I have a friend who had read it and was raving about it.

Mr. Jim, in your list of "hit" books (none of which I liked, although I do enjoy the Left Behind movies for the outstanding acting & special effects) you mentioned the Prayer of Jabez - which is the only one I haven't read. I have, however, picked up a copy of "Secrets of The Vine" same author and I actually enjoyed it - what did you think of it?

I've not read that one, speaking of Jabez I never read that one either. I was in a Reformed Baptist congregation at that time, the pastor essentially condemned it and we had several SS classes about what was wrong with it...hey, I let that guy to my thinking for me
