Yeah, I felt too goofy with that mask on! Sorry Free! :sorry:

I get bored pretty easily with my CF character looks, as if you have probably already noticed!

This new one with the casual dark suit and black shirt best repesents my look in real life. In fact, I have not worn a pair of jeans in almost 18 years! It's always khakis or dress pants.

I will be keeping this look for a while I think.

I also gave Madalaine up for adoption.

Would you believe I actually felt a little sad over giving up a stupid computer generated cat?

Well, it had to be done. She was just too high maintainence and was costing me too many blessings to feed!

Is there something specific in this post you wanted to address Senti?

Not sure what you are referring to.

I've been busy with a Corporate Inspection and logged in tonight and realized some things have changed. I'm guessing all of the points I made about the Trinity have been deleted.

That makes three forums that catered to SDA's (I'm guessing of the traditional ilk) that peanut-buttered their beds so to speak after the rubber meets the road with questions they clearly lack answers to. OSU Christian Club forums / Amazing Discovery Forums and now the discussion / debate section I was gearing up to get really active in!

Anyone know how I can find the post "your neighbor" made that I commented on? Well, it's good to see you guys and gals. I guess this is the remnant.

There is definitely a bit of chaos in SDAland (both of them!) right now. Stick around. Things here will definitely pick up.

You can likely still find it in the "traditional Adventist" forum. But you can't post there and debate now.

Now that I can say it, very typical of those folks to talk loud when the person on the other end of the conversation never questions or has even a basic understanding of Scripture.

Hey, why can't I see who is logged in any longer or how many people are in certain areas?

Freeindeed2,

Is the SDA church in general going through some problems with progressives and Trads?

There is tension in a lot of SDA churches between Traditionals and non-Traditionals, but it's not always as pronounced as it is online. There are also some local SDA churches that are more Progressive than others. However, the split into two categories here at CF is really artificial; it was done for convenience. There are actually people from all over the theological spectrum within Adventism, and not everyone fits into a neat little box.

In some respects a tension has been present since the church was founded in the 1800's. Sophia said it pretty well though. SDA's are literally ALL over the theological map. The official SDA beliefs are virtually set in stone, but you could take just about any two SDA's and ask them some questions and learn that there are definite areas where they don't agree. While that is probably true of just about any group, the SDA church has so defined its beliefs and interpretation of Scripture that there really is no wiggle room to deviate. Add to that an SDA prophet who 'wrote' almost 25 million words that not only interpret Scripture for the church, but also offers commentary on virtually every aspect of human life. It's not a simple message like the Gospel and by default has 'spawned' many divisions within a denomination that tries hard to present themselves as a unified front. They don't all fit into 'TRAD/PROG' categories.

Hope that helps, and it's only my observation of 35 years in SDAism (4th generation) and a decade of pastoring and working for the SDA church. I resigned a couple of years ago.

I was here just long enough to find the same thing.
After a very prolific SDA claimed:
I can go head-to-toe with every single one of you here now, and if you've been here any length of time, you know that.
And what do I use? SCRIPTURE!
I gave into my animal passions :p and replied to her, pointing out that her contention that a creation sabbath wasn't to be found in Hebrews 4.
I posted a reply: one time event
and haven't heard a peep since (Jim Larmore replied, to his credit).

Talk does not equate to walking in submission to the Scriptures, and the narrative of an eternal rest faithfully presented therein. The loudmouth and the pride of the flesh aren't going to stand - a lesson all of us can learn from.

LOL.. Funny how many of us that come from different backgrounds discover the same thing. I'm not sure if you every read the trinity exchange I had with RND and DJconklin where they finally established they were Arian. It was an odd experience to be sure. I'm certain they wanted to terminate that debate section with every cell in their bodies. Was not working out for them so they did what any "special group" does, end contact with the outside world. I'll go get the link and weld in this post in an edit. BRB

This "discussion" starts to heat up at approx post #86, ends in a total rejection of the Trinity. My guess it's this reason that they pulled the plug.

LOL! That's exactly what they're trying right now in their new rules. The only people they want to be able to ask questions, contribute in any meaningful way, or even 'debate'  , are those who are interested in joining the SDA church. Other than that they want no contact with the larger part of the body or Christ or with those who would put their 'specialness' to a Scriptural test. Retreat, ignore, redirect, side-step, and bury their heads in the sand...typical. If it's all 'truth', then why the fear? Where's the boldly procaliming the 'truth'?

"For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile. This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life." Romans 1:16, 17

PERIOD! Don't sacrifice the MEAT, the WHOLE POINT to persue being 'special'. We can be confident and bold presenting the Gospel the apostles preached to the world, for it is the POWER OF GOD UNTO SALVATION. All the rest is counted as 'dung', ALL of it, compared to the priceless gain of knowing Christ, or rather being known by Christ. He is our EVERYTHING!

Indeed! From what I could read that had already been posted about my Church I was a little put off that the best they could muster for a Trinity discussion was someone who was openly Arian!

I'm certain they didn't appreciate a child of the great harlot taking them to task over some of their "great Bible truths" but if they think about some of the things for a minute the Holy Spirit will do the rest.

I can see from my control panel that I can get back to threads I was involved in so it will be interesting to see how long that lasts.

You might want to bookmark those threads for when they get the new FSG's because it may be some of them as regular members are not going to really fit into their acceptance of the 28 Fundamentals. And that might be interesting fun.
