i looked and there IS refrence to the second death after the new heaven and new earth they mention the new heaven and new earth in
revelation 21:1.
however
revlation 21:8 makes refrence to the lake of fire so with this info i don't think the theory here is correct.
however
revelation 21:1 DOES say there will no longer be any sea. i don't know if this means the lake of fire or what, but my mind is VERY intrested in this subject
yes , there is reference to the lake of fire there , but says it is the second death , like i said before death means the end of existance , there is physical death , but then there is spiritual death , the only thing we still after physical death is spirit - once there is spiritual death , there is no more existance . Its because of death and hell and the lake of fire being obliterated that there are no more tears , and all things have become new - there is no more sea because as zaac stated before there is no more sea of humanity because all that is left are Gods children and God all things being new , no more sin , no more death , no more hell , no more lake of fire .
Note above i also gave this reference of Christs words which also distinguish between
Eternal and everlasting - the words everlasting and forever mean in greek to the end of the age or world or messianic rule , it would cease to exist after Christs millenial reign when the world and everything else is made new after satan is released again for a time , then all things are remade .
Note this from above on the same topic : Matthew 25:
40. "And the King will answer and say to them, `Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.'
41. "Then He will also say to those on the left hand, `Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels:
42. `for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink;
43. `I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.'
44. "Then they also will answer Him, saying, `Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?'
45. "Then He will answer them, saying, `Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.'
46. "And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.''
But notice there as to the topic of the OP , that the righteous are granted ETERNAL life , but it doesnt say eternal for punishment - it gives the word everlasting in the english which again like in relevation the greek word means untill the end of the age , not eternally .
If it were to be eternal lake of fire literally meaning everlasting , there would not be another word used instead of the one used for the word eternal . The word has more than one meaning , one being literally always , before and after never ending - ie eternal and the other means till the ending of the world - strongs even lists world as part of the definition .
Strong's Ref. # 166
Romanized aionios
Pronounced ahee-o'-nee-os
from GSN0165; perpetual (also used of past time, or past and future as well):
KJV--eternal, for ever, everlasting,
world (began).
In the case there of everlasting , the meaning would be from the time of the begining of the world to the end of the world .
The reference compares also to this word used in revelation about the lake of fire where it says their torment rises up forever : trong's Ref. # 165
Romanized aion
Pronounced ahee-ohn'
from the same as GSN0104; properly, an age; by extension, perpetuity (also past); by implication, the world; specially (Jewish) a Messianic period (present or future):
KJV--age, course, eternal, (for) ever(-more), [n-]ever, (beginning of the, while the) world (began, without end). Compare GSN5550.
Clearly in reference with both words , it would mean to the end of the age , or the end of the current world , the word used in the literal english says age instead of forever :
10.
|2532| And
|3588| the
|1228| Devil
|4105| misleading
|0846| them
|0906| was thrown
|1519| into
|3588| the
|3041| Lake
|4442| of Fire
|2532| and
|2303| sulphur,
|3699| where
|3588| the
|2342| beast
|2532| and
|3588| the
|5578| false prophet
|9999| {were}.
|2532| And
|0928| they will be tormented
|2250| day
|2532| and
|3571| night
|1519| to
|3588| the
|0165| ages king james and nkjv say forever here , but the literal word is age , not forever or everlasting , only lasting till the end of the current age
|3588| of the
|0165| ages.
By seeing the correct word meaning in the original language and combining it with all things being made new and being no more death and mourning - weeping for those who have been lost because its all over and all things are made new , the end of the age has occured and it is merely being reiterated who will not be in the new heaven and earth , all those who HAD their part in the lake of fire , who now have ceased to exist because they suffered a SECOND death and spiritual death would be the end of spiritual existance since physical death is the end of physical existance .
