Do you believe Jesus will return in your lifetime?
I really hope not. I wanna have a full life where I do stuff and then die. If in the next minute, Jesus came back, I'd probably be a little angry.

"No you wouldnt!" some would tell me

Yes, I would. I feel like God has been putting me through a whole lot of stuff for him to call the game early.

But to answer your question of do I think he will, I would wager probably not. People have been saying that he will all the way back to his own disciples, and will probably keep saying it up until whenever or however he does.

Not by taking a figure of speech and treating it as a literally factual description.

If I describe something as "an earth shattering event" I don't literally mean it was an earthquake. The author of 1st Thes. is describing the 2nd coming and resurrection in an equivalent way.

I totally agree with your reponse. But how do Christians who don't believe in the Second Coming that way, see this verse?

16For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
I think perhaps some would view that verse, and the entire book of revelation, not as a foretelling of things to come, but rather as a message of hope, saying that God will always be there for his followers, and nothing in all of the universe can stand against him. Thats a far less literal interpretation

Since Jesus came physically the first time I truly believe that is the way He will return. The angels told the apostles as they watched Him ascend into heaven, Why do you stand there and watch don't you know He will return the same way. That might not been their exact words but close enough.
I hope it is in my lifetime as I haven been trying to make myself ready but no one knows the hour:pray:
