Then I say let all of the Christian preppers feed 10,000 each and follow in the footsteps of our Lord. Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth.

I think you mean this is spiritual terms, like Jesus saying to Peter, "Feed my sheep" but I think it also raises an interesting ethical dilemma; what kind of sharing will we be called on to perform when disaster strikes?

What if we make efforts to prepare, and then in the thick of it, the neighbor who thought we were crazy wants to borrow a sack of rice?

I'd say it's going to be messy very messy. Me and my friends here in England camp wild now and then just for that feeling, we have camped in remote areas of England and Wales we have even been to Norway, that was hardcore lol. This is what I like about prophecies they cannot be a lie until christs return. What of the now? I believe christs message was one of everlasting peace and we should all be prepared for the day he returns. If people want to stockpile so their brothers and sisters around them are safe, what a show of kindness and a show of faith that Christ is actually coming.

Hi Andrew. I like the way you approach this issue. Do we stockpile to be prepared to show kindness (and just how much kindness are we realistically prepared to stockpile?), or to ensure personal (or familial) survival?

How many neighbors do we have, and how many of them will want what we have? How many of us realistically calculate those kind of figures when we stock up?

''The best laid plans'' and all that...

Very tricky times to plan for, if we are truly Christian then surely we know our neighbours do we not? Shall they look upon you with anger or with hope? When the food runs out? Do they know you to be trustworthy? For the survival of our very Christian hearts we must look deep within our selves and pull out our mokes, let our neighbours know we are not fodder let them see we bring good fruits, let them wave and beckon you in to safety When they look upon your faces, let them feel relief that it is a good neighbour that asks for shelter and food. If you see a face of hatred keep away and remember that look so you shall always know the look of hate on a face. Hate is a very difficult mask to hide.

Thanks for all the great feed back. My whole thinking is really starting to change towards prepping.

I believe the true key to survival depends upon our willingness to see beyond our own storage.
Does a sparrow store his food?
Does our Lord not feed them?
If we are going to survive long term as Christians and survive for another 21 Centuries.
We need to know life on this earth intimately.
We need to be able to grow and harvest for our great great grandchildren.
As we have passed on our own seed we should pass on the seeds of our foods.
Even in the coldest of winters a handful of seed will bring a pigeon or two to eat if desperate.
Im confident in my country I could survive with just a sack full of seed. I can hunt and gather with seed.
Safe drinking filter bottles are a must they are eternal wells of clean water to drink. I would recommend these to everybody. They help stop the sale of plastic water bottles and give pure clean drinking water.
Good warm clothing, I like craghopper they are good quality and I think their lined trousers are great.i wear this type of clothing all the time.
Waterproof over trousers and jacket are really really essential, if your out in the wilderness and your wet your dead.
Good waterproof boots.
A small pocket knife. I recommend the 3" opinel, it's french and has been around for a long time and is a must have item in your pocket.
With regards to sleeping out, I don't like tents, if your in hostile territory you can't see what's coming. I use a snug pack hammock. Be sure to learn how to use a hammock properly i spent first six months with it hung too tight and trying to sit in middle of it.
Ensure you own a quality -25 sleeping bag, the lighter the better.
This is some of my current thinking with regards to prepping.

As I just posted,
The more and more I have thought of this prepping for every eventuality the more I'm becoming convinced that the ability to gather and hunt with just seeds, is enough.
I feel confident that when the food runs out people will be looking for ways to get food, that knowledge will be invaluable.
Is it better to feed them or teach them to hunt and gather for themselves.
Did Jesus not teach us this?
Shall they steal our food and beat us or shall they hunt alongside us.
On a deeper level I believe we are prepping for the whole of life not just humankind.
I believe we are standing on the great Ark, in the middle of the darkness.
When Jesus returns who will explain the Dodo?
All creatures great and small belong to him.
