I try to not press it on either side, but if something has come up, I don't worry about it.

I don't keep away from everything secular though, I try to do what I can that is spiritual, and relax the rest of the time. I don't work, and try to limit the amount of work for others (I don't do much shopping/etc, just if I need something, if it can wait until another day, it does).

My DH teases me about 'guarding the edges of the Sabbath' as I attempt to celebrate it as early as possible. Come 4ish, I start shutting down things, I mean why risk it? ;) LOL
Seriously, the idea of quiet time, a change of pace, is so appealing, I really never look at the clock.

It's always on site, where it's supposed to be!

I usually go by the official sunset time. I'm not sure which way is the right way; I have never really heard this discussed by anyone in the church. I think it would be a good idea for me to do a study on it.

I was always taught sunset to sunset. They didn't have clocks in the Garden of Eden and during the Creation week each day is described as "evening and morning" so that's the way it is.

I'd say when the sun is out of sight, for me..although, like the others, I'd probably start getting things set up before then, if possible. (Currently living with one who doesn't keep the Sabbath, so it's extremely hard to do so myself).

I know when I'm on my own, I will probably start it as soon as possible on Friday and keep it going untill Sunday, just because I'll be able to. ^_^ I can't wait for a day like that.

A simple question? When does the Sabbath start, when the sun sets or when it's dark? Because the sun sets about 45 minutes beofore it's dark. Vote on the poll too please!!!
Dathan--I think I would have preferred that the question be, "when the sun sets'--not when it's 'out of site'.

So my answer would be--when the sun sets--evening.

I live in the mountains. The sun rises later and sets earlier than even 10 miles away. If I want to get technical, I go by the official time, but Sabbath is all about a relationship with God. I like to ease into Sabbath on friday and ease out of it on sat. night. Sort of like how I like to celebrate my birthday...milk it for all it's worth, make it last as long as possible.
