  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I just got my first rosary in say oh....20+ years.
I'm going to make saying it a few times a week habit in my prayer and devotional life.
I was just wondering you all do the same type thing? Is the rosary still popular like it was when I was a kid in the 70s/80s??

My wife and I pray it daily. Together if we can. It is still popular in most circles.

IT HELPS, I TO AM A CONVERT. IVE BEEN IN LOVE WITH THE CHURCH FOR JUST THREE YEARS NOW
I really can't put my finger on it but I can't seem to fall into a groove concerning the Rosary. I love the Divine Mercy & took to that like a duck to water.

I think I'm still slowing growing into it.

At my parish, we pray the Rosary before Mass. I am trying to make the Rosary a daily habit. We're actually working toward that goal right now in this thread. You are welcome to join us. :)
Yeah Robin, it's a good thread. Nice fellowship there.

Jared- I've only seen the rosary prayed before our Saturday Vigil Mass.

During the week it is prayed afterwards.

My parish prays the rosary before every Saturday vigil Mass and every Sunday Mass. If I'm not mistaken, I think we have lately been praying the rosary after every Wednesday evening Mass during Benediction.

My husband and I both entered the Catholic Church in January, and the rosary is very popular with us! We actually began praying the rosary quite awhile before we became Catholic. We began collecting rosaries and praying each one. We kept praying rosaries, and collecting rosaries, and the next thing we knew, we were Catholic!:) Never underestimate the power of praying the rosary!

I love the Rosary because it was our Lady who intervened in my life (about 27 years ago), and brought me back to her Son.

If any of you wish to hear my conversion experience involving the Blessed Mother, let me know, and I will post it here.
Post it! :D

Ok, here it is. I was born and raised Catholic, and even though I attended 12 years of Catholic school, at about age twenty I stopped going to mass and began to live a very sinful lifestyle. About ten years later, I had met the love of my life and we decided to get married. I felt the Lord tugging at my heart to come back to Him, but I did not have the courage to do so, since I was away for such a long time, and in a state of mortal sin. So, I got married without going to confession, received Communion (which by doing so, I committed a sacrilege) and got busy with married life. About three months into our marriage, I had a dream which involved the Blessed Mother (although I didn't know that it was her at the time). In this dream I was speaking to a very beautiful woman dressed in white (who wore a veil and was surrounded by a cloud). In this dream I knew that she was one of the saints, but I did not know who. I remember asking this woman, "When I die, will I go to heaven ?" She then looked me directly in the eye and spoke to me with all love and sincerity, saying, "You must repent."
With that, I found myself going through a dark tunnel at a tremendous rate of speed. In this dream, I knew that this tunnel was taking me to hell and I woke sitting up in my bed terrorized and screaming.
This dream shook me up so much, that within a few days, I was attending daily mass and having true repentance for my sins, went to confession for the first time in over ten years.
About a year later, I realized that the woman in my dream was indeed the Blessed Mother, when someone gave me a holy card with our Lady portrayed as she had appeared at Fatima, and I said to this person, "That was the lady in my dream."

Oh my!

I know that was scary but what a huge blessing!

God missed you. :)
