OK. Fair enough. Is it within the realm of possibility that God is capable of emotion?

BFA

I suppose BFA anything is possible... though where I am coming from (and of course you know you don't have to share this perspective) is that anger, wrath, etc are secondary emotions. That is humans feel something else before they feel anger and alot of times the primary emotion felt before anger is "fear." So speaking psychologically (yeah that's my field and point of reference), God has no need to be afraid, thus no need to be angry....

Who said God is angry? It makes no sense that a Being who is everywhere, knows everything, and owns all would be angry.... its His world..... granted some may have assumed God was angry, however attributing to God human emotion is suspect...

Ya, who said God is angry?

Mother is angry.

Gen 21:9-11
9 And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking.

10 Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac.

11 And the thing was very grievous in Abraham's sight because of his son. KJV

I agree that anger often stems from fear. Anger may also stem from other emotions. If parenthood tells us anything about who God is and how He relates to His children, then I suspect that God has experienced a variety of emotions.

The root cause of God's wrath in the end is not because people are breaking His commandments, it's because of unbelief.

Lawlessness is the manifestation of unbelief.

If one believes the word of God that belief will manifest itself in obedience.

2 Thessalonians 2:11-12 so God will allow them to believe lies with all their hearts, and all of them will be justly judged for believing falsehood, refusing the Truth, and enjoying their sins.

As we begin to grow in the love of God, through our nurturing relationship with Him, our obedience through belief will move to the next level, which is obedience through love.

Galations 5:5-7 For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love. You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth?

The first step in the salvation process is belief. Belief will bring us into a relationship with God which will lead to love. Love will be the power that sustains us.
k4c,

This event in the ministry of Moses tells the story of the relationship of belief and obedience.

Num 20:7-12
7 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

8 Take the rod, and gather thou the assembly together, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink.

9 And Moses took the rod from before the LORD, as he commanded him.

10 And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said unto them, Hear now, ye rebels; must we fetch you water out of this rock?

11 And Moses lifted up his hand, and with his rod he and thesmote the rock twice: water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.

12 And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them. KJV

When we judge/condemn others, we are heaping up wrath unto ourselves against the day of wrath as unbelief controls us. Anger toward the congregation of the Lord because of their faults reveals that we are not believing the Lord and are crucifying the Lord afresh and putting him to open shame in the person of his earthly children.

Rom 2:4-5
4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?

5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; KJV

We all need to keep our bodies under and bring them into subjection.

1 Cor 9:27-10:1
27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
KJV

1 Cor 6:18
18 Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. KJV
