  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

the movie itself wasn't scary to me. the after effects it left me with did. it turned my tv into the boogie man for a few weeks after viewing it. the ending will make sense if you see part two! thats how hollywood takes your money! =]

Well it scared the dodo out of me!
Not a movie I could watch over and over, but that first time had me on the edge of my seat more than any other movie before it.
Definitly the best horror movie to come out since Scream(first one).
The success of it, has spawn all kinds of Japanese horror flicks to float thier way over here, in one form or another.

so you two have noticed the excessive use of "creepy little girls with long hair". that is the chinese trademark for scary films

creepy little girls with long hair ™ © to asian horror films...

the grudge = HORRIBLE...

boogeymen while it wasnt inspired by an asian horror flic has it's asian horror quirks in there. i noticed!

That always happens in Hollywood.
A success, whatever it is, will always be reused.
And that isn't a bad thing, but some times it does get too repetitive.

Like a good thing is music. Original music is hard to come by in a movie.
Sure there are new songs, but they sound very similar to many other songs, using the same instruments.
But music is almost like oxygen to us in a movie. Without it, you will kill a movie.

Scream was probably the last big horror movie to have this much influence on Hollywood.
I thought "The Blair Witch Project" was going to do some thing. But it didn't as far as I could tell.

"Captivating" was a good word to describe this movie! I watched it several times myself. The way the characters, setting, and plot were all inter-woven was just fascinating. And I rarely watch such movies! It had a haunting quality, that's for sure!

I had after-effects from The Ring, too! Scary stuff! It's a movie that really gets under your skin!

I couldn't believe how much the first one scared me. I haven't felt like that in more than 15 years by a movie.

Here are two true storys I heard about this movie.

1. A guy recieves an email, that when opened, that little girl came out of the well and made her way towards his computer screen.
Can you imagine sitting at home after midnight when this email comes from no where?

2. This teenage girl who never ever watchs horror movies, or anything rated R, watched this movie.
She was bored and her friends wanted to watch it, so she did. It was her first horror movie ever.
Well for many weeks after she watched it, she was traumatized. I heard she had a hard time sleeping, nightmares, the whole nine yards.

This movie is nothing short of a master piece.
The story flows so well and has such perfect timing on all of the scenes.
If you watch the deleted scenes you will see that they cut out a victom from it.
And that makes sense, because added that last victom would have been a little too much. Basicly taking away from that "movie magic" that this movie posses.
I feel sorry for those who decided to watch it, after everyone in the world told them how scarey it was.
Because that would build too much hype to over come.

The Ring was definitally a great movie. Movies don't really scare me cuz they are...well...movies. lol The only movie to ever kinda creep me out was Signs, lol. I know I know, it wasn't really that scary of a movie, but I watched it at the drive-in that night, and I live in the middle of nowhere, lol, my backyard is huge, and I was walking from my neighbors house to my house the night I saw this movie. I remember stopping halfway, looking into the darkness in the backyard, and booking it as fast as I could back to the car, lol, I was a little freaked, even though it was only for that one night. Movies don't scare me, but something that did scare me was the flash movies on www.jkcinema.com The Urban Legends series. If you watch those when you are home alone, at night, living in the middle of nowhere, it freaks u out, trust me. Check em out, but seriously, you might want to have someone with you, especially if u scare easy. I myself do not scare that easily, but I will have to swallow my pride this time and say that watching these videos that night did scare me. Make sure u watch them all in order too, a couple of em like go together or something like that. lol Now that my storytelling is done...have fun. :)

I rented The Ring last year. My wife had taken the kids up north to visit her sister. I got home on a Friday night, had dinner, played some PS2 and around 11-11:30pm put the movie in. I had my popcorn and the lights were out.

This movie was the scariest movie I have ever seen - right up there with The Exorcist and The Amityville Horror. I had to peek through my hands at times......that's what my eight year old does for cryin' out loud!

After the movie was over I checked out the extras on the DVD.....with the lights on.....and one of the extra features was a short of the video that the people watched in the movie.

I got done watching that and it was probably a little after one in the morning and then......

...THE PHONE RANG!!!!!

My heart started racing and my hands got real sweaty.

It ended up being my wife calling to see how I was doing......whew!

Anyway, the more I think about the more I think that the movie may have been a bit demonic. But then again maybe I'm just overreacting.

I won't be watching The Ring 2...........maybe. ;)
