  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Before becoming a Lutheran I was a traditional Roman Catholic. We used the Douay-Rheims Bible so I found it easy to go to the King James Version since they influenced each other. (The 1580 D-R Influenced the 1611 AV which influenced the 1752 D-R).

Now I use the New King James Version and I'm pretty comfortable with it. I never really liked the NIV though some of my Catholic friends use it! I'll occasionally compare my NKJV to the ESV, or I'll go to my interlinear.

I'm a member of the LCMS, from what I know, I don't think my Lutheran brothers and sisters of the WELS would use a Bible that used too much gender-neutral language.

That would be correct. I wished we were big nough to write our own version, but right now as always our emphisis is on spreading the gospil, as it should be.
