i've noticed alot recently classic rock bands merchandise being sold everywhere. and alot of kids are buying it because it's cool, whether they like the music or not. I met someone who was wearing a Dark Side of the Moon tshirt and he said he got it at Target for $10. I said, "so you like pink floyd. he told me that "they're such a great band", but when i dug deeper he doesn't have the album, or know what's on it.
i've noticed that zeppelin, the doors, hendrix, pink floyd, the beatles seem to be names that are exploited by companies just to make money. It's like, "how many different ways can we put this well known, classic name on a product, and sell it"
so i guess what i'm trying to say is, if you really like it, and you know and love the history behind it, then go ahead and buy it. but i think it's stupid if you use it as a fashion statement.
sorry, i just needed to vent.
