The Purpose of the Church-To Baptize and Instruct believers

24 "And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

Philippians 4:9

"Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you."


I Timothy 5:17

"Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine."



II Timothy 2:2

"And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also."

Father help us to understand that our job, as a Church, is to share our knowledge and to teach and instruct other believers, for Your Glory, and never for our own.

May the Lord always grant us with the right words to teach others.

One way I can think of that we can teach others is by simply sharing with them not only the Word of God but also How he is working in our lives from day to day. He has done great things and continually works in the lives of those who love Him. May we all learn to share those things while giving Him the Glory He is due.

Yeah! Right! I wish we had a thread that many people would use to tell what God is doing in thier life each day. Or maybe not a thread. They could open a new thread.

Sometimes it is the simple little things that God uses to teach us profound truths. Like yesterday, I posted about my litttle niece. How she lay in my arms with her head on my chest and her little arms around my neck. How she would awaken from time to time and smile and kiss me. The love she gave me was unsolicited and unconditional, and of the sweetest kind. That is a tangible demonstration of how Jesus loves us and cuddles and kisses us in a spiritual sense. And all unconditional.

Then I think of how she lay so trusting in my arms, and that is an example of how we are to trust Jesus, and rest in His Arms!

I just loved that story Gerry. There's so much we can learn from the love, and trust of a Child.

Jesus is Sweet and Tender. He never lives in a cold and stoney heart. Therefore any heart that Jesus lives in will be warm and soft and tender. It seems to ne Sharky, that Jesus lives in your heart!
