  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

g'day all,

caught a sneak of this last night and really really wanted to enjoy it (and did manage to not hate it) but it had soo much potential it didn't live up to that it soured my stomach.

Thomas Jane definitely has the look and even pulled off some great facial expressions that seemed straight from the books but the script didn't back him up at all. The supporting characters Joan, Dave and Mr. Bumpo are from the "Welcome Home Frank" stories and were the saving grace of the flick (curious that Rebecca Romijn-Stamos has now been in two different Marvel adaptations so i guess there won't be any Mystique/Punisher crossovers any time soon ;) ) as they provided some comic relief (on purpose as opposed to the chuckles in the audience when Jane stands with the setting sun at his back and says "Call me, The Punisher") and an emotional counter to Frank Castle's vendetta.

The bad guys seemed incompetent for some reason, perhaps it's just Travolta but i'm laying more blame again on the script as Travolta put in his usual performance.

In the end, i saw what i wanted to see going in, things blowing up and bad guys getting their just desserts. Maybe that's why i didn't hate it ;)

thats a shame to because of all time this is my favorite comic charactor...since i was a lil boy. i was expecting it to at least do a halfway decent job telling a story rather than expecting the skull to carry the movie. hopefully regardless of mixed reviews it'll make the dough needed to carry over into the sequals ALREADY planned - which the villian in 2 is JIGSAW -..hopefully this is NOT this years daredevil.. :prayer: :prayer:
