  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi everyone, I was curious, where will all the profits go from Gibson's movie The Passion??? I loved this movie, I think its going to touch a lot of people's lives and bring so many people to the Lord, but I think it would be ashame if all the profits only went into the pockets of Gibson, the actors, and Hollywood and not used to improve the impoverished, the sick, or the hungry. I know Gibson used his own money to make this film, God bless him for that, but is it only to bank on Christ crucifixion?? This will be the biggest movie of the year I think, some people will go see it just for the controversy, please tell me if anyone has any idea where the profits will go???

God bless

Playing on 4,643 screens at 3,006 theaters, the $30 million production which Mel Gibson paid for most if not all, took in a whopping $26,556,573 on Wednesday alone.

The Passion burned onto the record books, notching the biggest opening day for a movie released outside the summer (May-August) and holiday (November-December) seasons. Hannibal was the previous title holder with $19.8 million posted in February 2001. Even if one subtracts the $3 million from private church group screenings on Monday and Tuesday that were folded in to the Wednesday gross, The Passion is still comfortably on top.

Among all opening days, The Passion land at No. 9, but it reached No. 3 among all Wednesday bows, behind only The Return of the King's $34.5 million and Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace's $28.5 million and ahead of The Two Towers's $26.2 million and The Matrix Revolutions' $24.3 million.

What they do with the profit, I really don't know. They should be blessed for doing a fine job regardless.

You know what people, forgive me for even writing this post, it's just my cynical and judgemental side coming out. It's really not important where the money goes or how much it makes, anything that gets a person to see the sacrifice He made for us is worth it!
God bless all of you and disreagrd this post

I think it's a valid question and one many will be asking.

I was very ignorant about the Catholic faith until coming to this forum. I've learned a lot in the Catholic Forum area(One Bread, One Body). I've been very impressed. My faith at this point is very Calvinist, but if I were to ever consider going back to the Weslyan type doctrine, I grew up in, I wouldn't discount the Catholic Doctrinal route. It's amazing how close they are, with the exception of the doctrine of "Entire Sanctification".

All that to say, Mel has put a lot of his money into a Catholic church in California. I would be happy to see him put more into the work of God in the group he's in. He already has and I'm sure he will in the future. In the Diane Sawyer interview he said he can live on a little or a lot. I doesn't make any difference to him. I trust he will do what's best.

Ya know most of the time if Hollywood sees a movie make lots of dough they want a sequel. Thats kind of impossible with this though lol ;) Unless they go with another Bible story to bring to the big screen.

I personally would love a remake/redone film version of THE TEN COMMANDMENTS.

I dont doubt that Hollywood is going to see this and start making Biblical films to try and cash in on it. Which could be real good ( to speak out to nonbelievers) or bad (if they take a story and butcher it to pieces).

I don't know how much money will go where, but if nobody involved in the film is asked to work on another one again, I hope they will be set up for life. Which shouldn't be too difficult.

The best way to get the world to see past the money-making side of things, though, is to turn the country upside down. For us Christians to get serious about our faith, live it out, pray, and yield to the Spirit.
