The Problems with Magazines!

Hey, me and my mother had a little "kuffufle" in the library today. I want to send off one of my short stories to a Fantasy Mag. But mom thinks they're are some questionable stories in the mag. And she doesn't like some of the drawings. But the way i figure...i could be putting a little bit of christian influence into that magazine. Im not going to read all the mags, i just want something published. I don't see a problem with it, in fact, i don't see a problem with most of the stories in that magazine, it's just my mom. What you think?

Well, If you want to be a fantasy writer, you are going to have to penetrate the fantasy market.
I don't see how you submitting a story to a publication could have anything to do with a bad influnence on you. Plus, you would have an opportunity to expose your faith, to some degree, in a secular publication.
You are limited to what options are available to you as a writer. So you do what you have to do.
The only issue I see is if you woould ever be required to compromise what you believe in order to publish your stories. That is not an issue here.

I don't think that is a fair comparison.
Granted I'm sure somewhere out there is a fantasy fic publication to meet the demand of that...kind...of media.
But somehow I just don't see you as the person who would be submitting stuff to it. lol.

Tell me, what's the name of this mag and what kind of stuff does it print?

I agree wholeheartedly with Mr. Cheese, but we are called to honour our parents by Christ, and even though I (and probably every one else) struggle with this, I can see the benifits of retaining your parents' trust. Maybe this is God's way of saying he has another plan for you right now; maybe time spent not publishing could be used to improve your finished works.

And probably when you're old enough to be on your own, choosing what you want to do, (is that 18 or 21 in the US? I can't remember) you can look at the works you want to publish now, and you will think there's a lot to desire. It's like that with me, only at an accelerated pace. I write a sentance, then I think it's silly. ;)
