Ah well,
Let's see, just got this job. I am growing to like it. My manager is evil though, but even so, with the help of your prayers he is at least not as offensive as usual.
So, some of you know I had been praying for a job on here for quite a long time, financial problems and all that. Well thanks to you guys and God I did get a job, and it really was a God Send. I really like my co-workers and it helps to solve many of my problems. However, there is one problem that might get out of hand.
First lets explain the circumstances of my hireing. Most of my department previously was fired. The department was found to be somewhat inefficiant. This was due in large to the old manager. Now I am part of the replacement for that old department.
It's my task to accomplish all the duties of the previous department AND additional ones. All this it seems, and we must do them in half the time. So I find out today that they are scheduleing me for 24 hours a week. Which at this point won't cut it, maybe AFTER I recover from not being employed, but right now this was a grieviuos blow as I was led to believe I would get more, and I really only need 30 or more hours a week, but that's the bare minnimum.
Everyone who has worked there; he has cut their hours, expecting them to do more work than they did before and in less time. He DOES NOT HAVE TO DO THIS. It is just something he is doing to earn brownie points with his bosses, but he could afford to give us quite a few more hours. I totally agree with being more efficient, but there is not much incentive to slave away the best you can and have no reward for it.
He has no heart, or moral character. I would pray for him to grow one please. He has been much nicer lately and not treating everyone like they are stupid animals which was typical for a while. So who knows with more prayer he might even grow some compassion and some commen sense that goes beyond numbers and self gain.
Especially pray for Melchor, who is 72, and has his hours cut from 40 hours to around where mine are. He is a very hard worker and humble. John just can not see it, he expects too much out of the old man. He expects everyone that works for him to be the absolute best their is. When not everyone is the best, and if they were they wouldn't work there. He does not have a realistic view on how long many of these things takes, though i admit he is a very hard worker. Doing these tasks at his pace would push our bodies and minds to the limmits, I doubt all of us could even do it.
I talked to him about getting more hours today, and it's really rediculous, because all I need are 6 more hours a week, but he said I'd have to work harder and then he'd cut them from someone else, or implied the last part. Which geezuz, I don't want anyone to get their hours cut just because I need more hours, so does everyone. AND HE HAS MORE HOURS HE IS AUTHORIZED TO GIVE.
Please pray that I can get more hours, or another job. Pray that Melchor will be ok, pray that John finds some values in his life that are not just money and status and that he can be kinder to his employees, which at least is happening already.
