Thanks for bringing that up. The ten commandments are preserved in the same way the scriptures collectively are preserved, with the manuscript copies that lasted, though autographa did not. But the stone tablets were not considered, and though we have the ten commandments in the way we have all our scriptures, the stone tablets show permanence of those commandments, and so it sure seems they would last. The ark, which had contained them, would sure seem to be somewhere still, though certainly hidden then.

I know where the ark will return. In the Temple in Heaven (Rev 11:19). So it could already be there in heaven with the ark.

The thing about the ark that was among the people of Israel was that though meant to persist it was patterned after what was seen from Heaven. Yahweh himself is not visible as he is, yet in Heaven there will be manifestations of reality, so he would be seen there through that, and in that way more showing reality is manifested, and the reality of the ark, which is mentioned in Revelation, will be manifest there, this being reality beyond the ark constructed after its pattern.

Wasn't the Ark carried away when Babylon sacked Jerusalem along with all of the valuables?

It was not Pharisees that asked our Lord,(What is truth?)
There are over 5300 changes in the Critical Text or I may dare say Roman Text from the Textus Receptus.

Erasmus exposed the truth in his translation he was considered Cathloic ,but not well thought of in their ranks.

You may have all the knowlage a library can hold, but knowlage will never replace truth.

I'm a Baptist just passing through ,brought up on the King James I need not debate Bibles, I know it does no good.

Our Lord showed a distinctive righteous indignation toward the Pharisees, I will a wait his answer one day.
Unless I'm in purgatory.

Apparently it was.
I have read that some people think it's hidden underground somewhere underneath the temple mount.

I would have to go back and do a lot of study, but I seem to remember that all the treasures that were taken, were returned when the Temple was rebuilt???

I think they are still there but the temple insitute in Jerusalem has been recreating some of the vessels used in the innercourt.

Was just reading in a book by perry stone called 'code of the holy spirit' how the ark was like a battery generator or capacitator and generates its own electricity because of the gold materials used and thats why uzziah couldnt touch it, he got shocked and died.

Im sure after the dead seas scrolls, that scripture may be preserrved inside, well i know the tablets containing the ten commandments are.
Also inside is meant to be a pot of manna, moses rod or staff and on top is the mercy seat which contains the blood of christ. The cherubims are still there guarding this.

The rest of the law is meant to be in our hearts, so i think as Jesus bled from his heart that blood contains his genetic code in which is encoded all the laws God gave to mankind. When he was crucified as the blood ran down it went over the mercy seat hidden underneath the site of the crucifixtion.

I read this in a book called ark of covenant but forget the authors name...

It does not matter what people think. The Ark of the Covenant (Testament) is now in Heaven (Rev 11:19): And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

Thats interesting.
But i thought that was a future vision. And of course heaven is going to come down to earth.
This vision was shown to the apostle John in about 90 AD (about 2,000 years ago). Though it is connected with future events, that Ark was already in Heaven. We are not told when or how it occurred, but it could have been just before Nebuchadnezzar destroyed the Temple around 600 B.C.

My understanding, based on commentaries, is that the Temple and the Ark in this passage are the heavenly archetypes, not the earthly ones.

That may be possible, but I see no reason to avoid the conclusion that the Ark was taken up to Heaven, just as Paradise was taken up to Heaven and is presently in the New Jerusalem (2 Cor 12:1-4; Rev 2:7; 22:2).

Hhm ok jury is out on that one because a book which had several witnesses and another source said it was still there under the mount. I would say that space time in the book of revelation is fluid, since it is a book of visions into the spiritual realm.

I know the ark will definitely be in heaven and we will see it.

Jesus was crucified in Jerusalem, the sacrifice was there he wasnt crucified just anywhere. The blood needed to pay for our sins on the altar...the mercy seat.

The whole point of having the temple was so that God could dwell there before the mercy seat and the ark of convenant there as a reminder of the covenant. When Jesus made the new covenant it was a better one and the blood was on the seat. See hebrews 10:19 and 12:24

When Jesus died the veil in the holy of holies was torn in two. See matthew 27:51

What was seen in Heaven, and what will be seen in Heaven, is manifestation of the reality. The ark made after the heavenly pattern for it in this world is not that. It was for designating God's presence in this world, and those in a time of greater idolatry needed something designating God's presence more, rather than an idol, which shouldn't be at all used for God. And there is still idolatry enough around, but those seeking Yahweh can know now Yahweh's availability through Christ, who we can come to and have with us. The ark made after the pattern that has been in this world is very possibly hidden somewhere, due to how special it has been, but it isn't now necessary that way in this world, while people need to come to Christ. But the reality is still in Heaven and it's manifestation will still be seen. The commandments contained with them have lasting importance, that we with the new covenant in Christ can live out obediently to Yahweh God from the heart.
