  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I feel bad because every day I'm like "man, I feel like crap." I can honestly say that I haven't felt "good" in about a month. I'm still totally exhausted and throw up at night still. I have an appt on Monday to hear the baby's heartbeat though, and that's exciting :)

I sympathize, prayerfully it won't be long before this part of the pregnancy is done, and you will at least get your appetite back. The energy should get a bit better too not long after that. There is light at the end of the tunnel... :holy:

Praying your morning sickness will let up soon. :prayer:

I'm 32 weeks and am thinking by the time I hit 36 I'll be ready to get the show on the road.

Otherwise, how is everyone doing?
37 weeks today. I'm actually not doing too bad. Getting a few more aches and pains, starting to feel a little crampy but I'm not getting that "I want the baby out now!" feeling. Maybe knowing that my hubby has to leave to go back out on the road again in a couple days for another couple of weeks is effecting the way I feel and I'm wanting this baby to stay put exactly where it is until hubby gets back!

AJ, your getting so close! :)

Right now I'm only 31 weeks and I have the feeling that I just want him to stay put as long as he can be healthy in there.. because I know it'll be quite awhile before I'll be pregnent and I LOVE feeling his kicks all the time!

His kicks are getting to the point where I can see and feel them from the out side, but not consistantly. So I'm looking forward to that. Although I feel huge, I feel like he does still have room in there to grow.

I've only just started getting the stuff that we need. Last week we got the new carseat we needed and yesterday I got my new Fuzzi Bunz cloth diapers in the mail - they're so cool! Today I had hubby get our daughter's old baby clothes down and started washing them and then will be seperating them into 'boy' and 'girl' clothes to use once we know whether it's a boy or girl after the baby arrives.

With this being my first we have no old stuff to wash...although it's all second hand except for 4-5 outfits so yeah. We only have 2-3 major things left to get, carseat, crib mattress and something to put his cloths in, dress or changing table I'm not picky.

I wish I could do cloth diapers!

We don't have a trash pick up so I really wanted to give cloth a good try this time. We have to run our trash over to my in laws who have a dumpster and did not want to mess with having to make poopy diapers runs! :D

we can't do cloth because we do not have a washier. I do not want to carry poopy diapers to the laundry mat twice a week.

I think I may have found something that with the help of a changing table pad I can turn into a changing table. Oooh, if we don't have any luck with getting a second hand one, that might work.

John and I haven't purchased anything yet. We're taking hand me downs only until after our baby shower (Sept 16th). So far we have 2 car seats, 2 swings, crib w/ mattress, 2 basinetts, 2 bouncy seats, a swing, an umbrella stroller, countless toys and books too. Most of the doubles are going to my mom or sister. John's mom has all this stuff as this will be her 5th grandchild!

We're so blessed to have so many friends and family with kiddos that can help us out. We'd never have been able to afford the things we need let alone the things we wanted if it wasn't for all the people helping out!

I bought the Cosco Scenera with the 5 point harness for $40 at Wal Mart. It goes from 5-35lbs rear facing and 22-40lbs forward facing. Then you have to get a booster anyways unless you shell out big bucks to get one of the really expensive seats that harness until 65lbs like Britax makes.

I'll check into that, thanks Mrs. A2J.

I checked the website, it looks good. DH wanted to know if you'd used a convertable carseat before. He was told that the hospital won't let you leave with the baby in a convertable seat.

Yes, we used a convertible seat for our daughter. In fact she's still in it :D We have the Cosco Alpha Omega for her and have used it since the day we brought her home from the hospital. She's now using it as a booster seat. I don't see why the hospital would have a problem with a convertible seat as long as the baby meets the minimum requirements for use which are usually 5lbs and 19in which most babies do when they are born. I just don't see the point in spending money on an infant seat when I hear so many babies out grow them by the time they're 6 months old and then you need to get a convertible anyway. We also never had a problem with DD waking up getting her in and out of the convertible.

Wow, I wish I had someone to give me a carseat! Right now that's our biggest worry, affording the carseat.
Do you not have baby capsule/carseat (gotta love terminology differences) hire over there? In Australia several places hire out baby capsules for 6 months after the birth - costs around $40-50 compared to $150-300 to buy. In our particular state, the Ambulance Service does it.

Mmmm... maybe it's a standards difference - our standards are (apparently) more strict than the US, maybe that makes for far more expensive capsules/carseats? *ponder*

This is true AKAIK. Our standards are very very high. Some things are on par with the UK but others have surpassed even them.

Be very careful with second hand/hand me down car seats. They are like bike helmets- they are ruined after they do their job once. One impact (that hopefully saves your bub's life) and they are only good for the bin ;). (this- incidentaly is why I shall never use a second hand car seat for any future children of mine. Just about everything else will be anyway ^_^)
