The Department of Homeland Security’s threat assessment report, released earlier this week after a long wait, made that clear: White power movement violence and affiliated extremism is, by far, the greatest terrorist threat to our nation.

Not only does this kind of extremist violence outstrip any violence carried out by what President Trump has referred to as “antifa and the left,” but white power violence now also exceeds the threat of radical Islamist terror.

Is there a word of concern from President Trump about a signifcant terrorist plot on our country? As usual, he deflects and licks his wounds. Disgusting.

Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump

·Governor Whitmer of Michigan has done a terrible job. She locked down her state for everyone, except her husband’s boating activities. The Federal Government provided tremendous help to the Great People of Michigan. My Justice Department and Federal Law Enforcement announced...
Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump

·...today that they foiled a dangerous plot against the Governor of Michigan. Rather than say thank you, she calls me a White Supremacist—while Biden and Democrats refuse to condemn Antifa, Anarchists, Looters and Mobs that burn down Democrat run cities...
Donald J. Trump
@realDonaldTrump

·...I do not tolerate ANY extreme violence. Defending ALL Americans, even those who oppose and attack me, is what I will always do as your President! Governor Whitmer—open up your state, open up your schools, and open up your churches!

He doesn't note that he frequently shows disrespect for the FBI and intelligence agencies, listening to enemy leaders like Putin over our dedicated lifetime federal investigators.

The ‘Wolverine Watchmen’ Accused of Targeting Michigan Guv Spooked Their Neighbors

How convenient of Republicans to try to distance themselves from this terrorist group who listened when the president told them to "liberate Michigan" and "stand down and stand by." When this group picketed the Michigan capitol, they actively recruited people for their plot among the radical right-wing militia and white supremacists who joined in.

The President did not tell them to liberate Michigan.

All you have to substantiate your claims is a far-left publication that of course specializes in conspiracy theories that defame the President. And all that it has to substantiate its claims are unidentified posters writing on "social media."

The social media posts were part of the information contained in the FBI report. The FBI was of course trying to set a wider net to find out the larger circle of contacts and the influences and groups they interacted with.

Their recruiting at protests at the Capitol (where, if you remember, legislators had to wear bulletproof vests, and eventually the Capitol had to be closed) was among white supremacist groups. I didn't see any BLM members on the Capitol steps--as a matter of fact, BLM didn't even become active until the murder of George Floyd by police.

The Milituamen in this caper were not Trump supporters or white supremacists or second amendment activists.

They were Anarchists, part of the same crowd that gave us Antifa BLM.

They support Trump's ideology: seize power at any cost. They are sexist anarchists, and IN NO WAY ARE THEY RELATED TO EITHER ANTIFA (which is an ideology, not an organization) OR BLM.

Why do you, as a Christian, lack empathy?

His words concerning this threat are: "Stand back and stand by."

He doesn't see them as a threat because they align to his interests.

Gee. I don't see anywhere in all that material that the President was addressing the Militia in question or calling anyone to kidnap the governor. Do you? No. So enough already with this nonsense.

He is addressing everyone in the state with that tweet. That includes the militia. And don't move the goalpoast with the kidnap thing. You said that he didn't tell them to liberate Michigan, and there's the tweet by Trump telling them to liberate Michigan.

You're making things up.

The President did not tell them to liberate Michigan.

He told everybody to liberate Michigan. They listened.

Gee. I don't see anywhere in all that material that the President was addressing the Militia in question or calling anyone to kidnap the governor. Do you? No. So enough already with this nonsense.

It's amazing how blatantly disingenuous this argument is.

Who do you think Trump was talking to when he said "Liberate Michigan"?

You're the one pushing nonsense.

That's just ridiculous. First, he was supposed to have been addressing white supremacists, and now we're supposed to believe he's addressing every resident of the state. I wonder how the story will change next.

"Wolverine watchmen" is a reference to the Wolverines in Red Dawn, a violent 1980's rightwing fantasy movie.

I reference a report from the Department of Homeland Security, and you accuse ME of stoking fear and panic?

The president has been stoking fear of BLM and encouraging the groups the Department of Homeland Security has indicated are most dangerous.

When the plot to kidnap Whitmer and other Michigan officials, along with detonating bombs at bridges and other terrorist acts, was exposed, the president blamed the victims for things like mask mandates!

However, I am particularly concerned about white supremacist violent extremists who have been exceptionally lethal in their abhorrent, targeted attacks in recent years. I am proud of our work to prevent terrorizing tactics by domestic terrorists and violent extremists who seek to force ideological change in the United States through violence, death, and destruction... The co-opting of lawful protests led to destruction of government property and have turned deadly. Indeed, DHS law enforcement officers suffered over 300 separate injuries and were assaulted with sledgehammers, commercial grade fireworks, rocks, metal pipes, improvised explosive devices, and more. This violence, perpetrated by anarchist extremists and detailed in numerous public statements that remain available on the DHS website, significantly threatens the Homeland by undermining officer and public safety— as well as our values and way of life.

These are quotes from the actual report. It is particularly interesting that Homeland Security, unlike the president, is able to differentiate between the peaceful protesters and the "anarchist extremists" who co-opt these protests.

I have no patience with people who are unconcerned about domestic terrorism--either the president or his loyal followers.
