Below is my personal testimony. It's about how God can raise good experiences up from the ashes of bad ones, just like a phoenix springs back to life from the smoldering embers it leaves after it perishes. Throughout this testimony, I will remain anonymous. You have full permission to copy my writings and use them for purposes such as witnessing and strengthening each other's faiths. Just remember to tell people that it was Esran who experienced these things, and how with the love and guidance that only comes from our Lord Jesus Christ was able to overcome them. Every word of this testimony is true. All of these things really happened. You aren't reading a fairy tale here; you are experiencing the life of another human being.
It all began in a town called El Paso, right in the middle of the armpit of Texas. Esran was born on January 7, 1988. It looked as though the pregnancy had gone well, but in a way that wasn't true. When he was born, Esran's arms and legs were curled up beyond belief. He had authrogriposis, which is just a fancy name for fused joints. No one knows what caused it, but some say it was the supposedly toxic water from the Rio Grande. Doctors performed tons of tests on Esran. They said he was a dwarf too. They said he would only be able to use a computer with a straw. They said he wouldn't be able to use his hands at all. When Esran got a little older, it was found that he didn't respond to loud noises. The doctors thought he was deaf perhaps, maybe autistic? No on knew for sure, except for God that is. He had His own plans for Esran. They had doctors sure said a lot about him, but they would soon be humbled by our almighty God.
Esran had to walk with braces, but that was fine with him, even though they often hurt. He had to have clubfoot surgery and a hamstring release, but it was for the better. Every day, God made Esran a little bit stronger. It turned out that he could use his hands even better than some other people, despite their weird, hook-like shape. It turned out that Esran was very social, and not autistic at all. It turned out that his hearing was fine. When he was about three, he said his first words to his grandpa, who's now with Jesus. While chasing Esran around his back yard, he said to him "I'm going to get your ear!". Esran replied by uttering these very first words; "Nuh uh, I'm going to get yours!". It was a miraculous day for Esran's family.
Esran continued to improve, and so his loving parents decided to move him to Austin so that he would be able to get the best education available to him. He loved school! He especially liked science! Like any other normal kid, he liked to play with dinosaur toys. His favorite movie back then was Land Before Time. Esran made friends that he still has to this day during this time period in his life. He was baptized and became a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He met his future girlfriend then too. Good times those days were. Innocence and adventure dominated Esran's life, which would soon be turned upside down once again.
In second grade, his other grandpa had a stroke. The doctors predicted that he wouldn't last long. Esran prayed. His grandpa, who was still alive at the time this testimony was written, got better. He was bedridden, but his mind was intact. A few years later, this very same grandpa's organs began to shut down, but God intervened. He sent a doctor to aid Esran's grandpa. The doctor increased the amount of food given to him, and it worked! Esran's grandpa's organs came back to life! Esran learned much about the power of God and the power of prayer from the experience. His faith was strengthened. More good times followed.
Esran did very well in school. He was eventually confined completely to a wheelchair, but he didn't mind. He even got into the top 2.5%! He held rank 10 out of about 544 people in high school. He joined the IB and AP programs. Esran got tons and tons of homework, but again, he didn't mind.
Last year came. The summer of 2003 would test how strong Esran really was. First, the grandpa that he had spoken his first words to had a massive stroke and a heart attack. Esran prayed to almighty God to save his grandpa from death, but somehow, Esran knew that this wasn't his Lord's will. His grandpa died the next day. Later that very same summer, Esran found out that he would require surgery to fix the severe case of scoliosis that he had developed. He knew that the Lord would be with him though.
Despite a severe allergic reaction to medicine that almost stopped Esran from breathing, he made it through the surgery fine. He feels great now, and is very social and successful. Although he definitely had his doubts, he never lost his faith, and hopes that he never will. He now wanders the Internet sharing his story with others. He is experiencing good times once again, but knows that bad ones will come again. Esran is ready for them. God is with him, and will always help him through life's many obstacles so that he may once again see the good times that always rise up from the bad.
Please follow the God of Esran. He will always bring good times, love, eternal life, and true happiness to those who seek his face.
