The Petrified Forest

I'm surprised I haven't seen the Petrified forest used as evidence for an old earth, that would seem like something thats pretty old.

Lots of fossils and stuff in the petrified forests, I even believe marine type fossils have been found, maybe could support the flood?

What where the marine life?

Were they marine life like we have today (expected if creationism was right), or only specific marine life that existed x millions of years ago (expected if evolution and current geology is right)?

I believe they found vertebrae of fish and stuff in the petrified forest in greece or maybe it was Arizonas don't remember.

One things for sure somewhere down the line it was a very different place than it is now.

There aren't any in Petrified Forest National Park (at least that I was able to find).

Well, there were certainly vertabrate fish around in the Late Oligocene so that's not too big of a deal (assuming it's true; I couldn't find anything in the link about fish). Does this site talk about what kind of environment this was (aside from just being a "sub-tropical forest")? Lakes and rivers can often be the source of some marine fauna (Tendaguru anyone? )

One thing I think YECs should take good note of (you too Badfish ) is the type of flora in the Arizona and Greek examples of a petrified forest. In the Arizona one (laid down during the Triassic) there are no examples of any flowering plants. This includes grasses. Meanwhile, Badfish's link here boldly states that in this Oligocene forest both "Angiospermae and Gymnospermae" are present. So you (YECs) have a peculiar instance where one forest has flowering plants whereas the other is completely devoid of them.
